Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Susan, I suggest that the guestbook be only for those who do not belong to the
Clanton List.
As all of your comments will be going to the page, instead of to the list.
We also have it set up that people can leave personal messages, and myself and
the webmasters can read them. with a password.

For the first thing,
I listown the Craig-L. We have 224 people. We consider ourselves one big Craig
Family. and that was after we implemented Teams. We have 20 Teams, and then we
have many orphans Craig's.
Our web page is the second most important part of our list. The list has to
remain the 1st and most important aspect of the Craig Research. We really have
a great time on this list. With the recent tornado's in the TENN and KY area,
we really got close.
Comments were: we really are a big family that cares for each other, and we
do. and what's nice is that I will have an enourmous phone bill this month,
because of many of the people that have called me personally and I replying
back as we did genealogy on the phone for hours.
What we did was form teams to work on specific lines, which we know as some
point will tie into other lines. We also have a Internet Librarian. All the
documentation sent to the list, (that would be from books, and manuscripts,
etc. and family info, are indexed and cross indexed by our librarian. We will
not post documentation to the web page. That is shared by a private list, and
that's all.
Back to the web page. We call it simply Craig Genealogy WEb Page.
As the teams get their descendency outlines to us, they go to the web page.,
and we eventually will include small pictures and family stories of these
people, which we will be able to link to a name. Some of the things in the
works will be a chat room for Orphans to work together. on specific days, and
other days for the Team Leaders, and their groups. A query page only for those
who are not on the list.
We have Scottish links, Irish links, we have music. It helps to instill the
ancestry that we hold.
Back to the Teams. We were fortunate to have one gentleman who was working on
the Taliaferro Craig line, we now have 6 generations of that family on line, I
believe. Anyway pretty soon we had many more volunteering for specific lines.
There so far are three major lines, we do not connect here in the US, but will
most likely in Scotland.
We have guidelines for the Team Leaders. If you are interested in these let me
know. WE list the Team Leader, his email address, and the people on that team,
and then also the colleratol lines.
Recently we asked for State Monitors: we have 15 states covered, so far from
Missouri to the southern states, and the eastern states.
What they do is sign up on a specific list and monitor it for Craig's and the
affiliated lines of the orphan craigs. They report back to the list, once a
week with their findings.
Just by having those descendency outlines posted of the orphans, and being
able to read and compare, we already have made matches, that enable us to make
them into a team
If you have any questions I would be happy to answer them.
Check out the Craig Genealogy Web page at:

Remember our page is very new, and the ladies who are working on it, have
never done a web page before. check out the music.
We have had several ask if they could link to our page. We are really picky,
we review the page that is going to be linked to us, and then decide.

One other note, Comments section on the website is intended for comments about
the website and are sent to me personally for my use on updating and upgrading
the website.
The Guestbook is to sign and leave comments for everyone else to see and read
and is now done automatically. Of course, depending on the speed of the
servers and traffic on the Internet when post is made.
Enjoy!

A suggestion was made to me and have been mulling it over for a few weeks. It
is a wonderful idea and would like to implement it, but I need people willing
to be responsible and willing to be "team leaders."
The idea would be split into teams and research branches of the CLANTON name.
Research would consist of documenting your findings and sharing with the whole
group.
Now here is the downfall in this idea, we all seem to agree on John CLANTON
being our progenitor or immigrant. And we seem to agree that Marmaduke is his
son, but this is where communication seems to fail. Some of us seem to show
Marmaduke as having siblings (brothers and sisters) and some do not. The
ideal way to split into groups would be for take an offspring of John CLANTON
and proof each line. But the major fallacy in this would be research should
be done starting with yourself and working back to your progenitor or
immigrant (John CLANTON).
The other suggestion would be to divide groups into states.
Let's hear some feedback.
Please post your responses to CLANTON-L(a)rootsweb.com.
Thanks,
Susan Groover
Hi everyone,
CLANTON Web has been undergoing a "facelift." Some of you have stumbled
across the new features. The site is a "Family Resource Center" on Surname
Web.
The responsibility of being a resource center is "kinda on the lines" of being
a library exclusively for the CLANTON surname. Be sure to check out the new
Biography Database.
Unfortunately, as usual, I am running out of space. I will keep everyone
informed, but I am in market for a new provider. Looking for a provider that
will let me have multiple mailing addresses and more than a total of 10M
website space and under $20 per month. Anyone knowing of an Internet provider
that meets this criteria, please drop me a personal note at
ClantonWeb(a)aol.com.
Most of the links are working, there are some areas I am still working on.
And I need to concentrate on getting information that I have in my files on
the site.
As always, I am on the look out for biographies or autobiographies for the
CLANTON of the Month page.
PLEASE note...posting queries to the website is not the same as writing and
posting your queries here. I have not made up my mind and still researching
on having those queries posted directly to the mailing list and the website
simultaneously. Will let you know when this takes place and what they will
look like.

Searching for ancestors of Edward Clanton, drowned in Yadkin River, Wilkes
Co., NC. Edward had a daughter, Susan Clanton married David Laws in Wilkes
Co., NC in 1825. Very limited information.
Thanks
