Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Regarding the census index I just sent: I made an error on the date of the
middle
list. It read 1840 Census Index. This should have read 1830 Census Index.
Please
make correction. Thanks, Cactus Jack

Sounds great!! Billy Sharp and the Goldrups are in my same linege from J J
Clanton on down to John James CLANTON of Humboldt, Tenn. and Paris, TX. If I
can help in anyway, let me know. I'm fairly new at this and have gotten
information from Billy Sharp, Tom and Jim Goldup, (Tom & Jim came from the
Ethelbert Jefferson Clanton & Margaret Angeline Kelsay line); and Dorothy and
Wilson Clanton who live in Humboldt, Tenn., who with their son John, who
lives in Miss., have done alot of work on the CLANTONS and they have a
CLANTON reunion At Humboldt every first week-end in August.
If you would like their E-mail addresses I could give them to you except for
Tom & Jim's and they are not on Computer yet. I think I have their snail
mail address somewhere, if not Billy Sharp can supply you with it.
By the way, I haven't heard from Billy since before June, Hope all's well
there.

Designing A Genealogy Web Page"
<http://www.vu.org/channel32/today/>
The goal of the class is to help participants get their genealogy
and family history on the web. Weekly topics will include HTML
basics, how to design a genealogy web page, and how to put one's
family tree online. The class will also discuss where to find
genealogy clip art, animated graphics, and audio and video clips;
how to create guest books and surname lists, and how to publicize a
genealogy web site. Basic knowledge of HTML is required. Instructor
Marthe Arends is an author and lecturer with 16 years experience in
the field. She is publisher of "Online Pioneers," a genealogy news-
letter. This 8-week class runs from August 18 through October 11.
"Introduction to Online Genealogy"
<http://www.vu.org/channel33/today/>
You don't have to be an advanced Internet user to find out about
genealogy in the online world! This introductory class explains
how to use Internet tools such as e-mail, Telnet, FTP and search
engines to access Usenet newsgroups, online databases, web sites,
and various other online resources of interest to genealogists and
those who want to learn more about their family roots and history.
Veteran genealogists who are new to the Internet will benefit by
learning about the many resources available. This 8-week workshop
will be taught by Marthe Arends ("Designing A Genealogy Web Page").
Starts October 13.
"Writing Family and Personal History"
<http://www.vu.org/channel35/today/>
"You too can make history!" says instructor Susan Chaffin, who has
written extensively in the field of genealogy and is currently a
staff writer for an online history magazine. Genealogy is one of
the hottest topics on the Internet today, and novice and moderately
experienced family historians and genealogists who are interested
in adding depth, breadth and textural richness to their own or
their family's genealogy can benefit from this 8-week workshop.

Mary Louise,
I saw your post to Susan Clanton Simpson. Would you please share some of
your proof that satisfied the DAR with us? This interests me! You have my
attention!

I did read your earlier E-mail. I am very new to both genealogy and
computers. I
printed off a copy of your response, deleted it from my computer and then
misplaced it. Please excuse all the errors, they were not intentional. I
tried answering your
E-mail again, but today I got back returned mail, so I must have made more
mistakes.
Back to your response, I obviously made an error saying Daniel
Clanton was listed on the 1830 Georgia Census Index page 288. Samuel B.
Clanton is listed in the 1830 Georgia Census Index page 288 Hous Co. I have
not obtained a photo
copy of the actual Census page yet.
I have no furthur information on Abigail Marsh. Do I understand
you correctly
concerning the Marshes? Was Caroline DUKES first married to James Henry
Clanton and then later to James Calvin Marsh? The 1840 Georgia Census index
lists 21 Marshes. There is a Rubin Marsh listed in Irwin Co. page 9/518th
district.
He is the only Marsh listed in Irwin Co. I don't have a copy of the actual
census
page for Rubin Marsh, but could he possibly be the father of Abigail and
James Marsh? On this census index there is also a listing for a James Marsh
in Savanah,
page 70/4th district.
Sorry, I have no information on #1 Mary A.R., #3 Josephine or #13
Georgeann. John Alexander Clanton was born July 3, 1870 in Valdosta,
Ga.,Lowades Co. On January 26,1897 he married Mary Parolee Harvey. They had
5
children: Claude C. b 11-16-1897; Ruby b abt 1904; Jessie D. b abt 1908;
Velma b
abt 1908 and James Henry.
I hope this helps. I have some other leads on Clantons in
Georgia, but they
are unconfirmed information. If there are other Clanton's from Georgia you
need
leads on I might have something, just send me some names and dates. Thanks,

Hi everyone,

nothing is set in stone. What you will see on the page I have published is a
table of contents.
>>>Other CLANTON websites<<< is for linking to other published websites
pertaining to the CLANTON surname. If any of you have a website and would
like it linked to, please forward the http address along with a note for your
approval for me to link to it. This note sent to me personally at
ClantonWeb(a)aol.com or SusanG559(a)aol.com will be fine.
>>>Favorite Genealogical Websites<<< is for http addresses that you have
personally visited on the Internet and return to for their helpful
information, etc.
>>>GEDCOM(s)<<< is for those of you who like to publish your GEDCOM on the

GEDCOM.
(1) Name of owner of database (GEDCOM)
(2) Address of owner with city, state, and zipcode (optional)
(3) Telephone number (optional)
(4) E-mail address (required)
(5) Title for page would be helpful, but not required. Will use your e-mail
address if
no title provided.
(6) Please include statement whether you would like living individuals dates
hidden or
withheld. I know publishing on the Internet and people's right to
privacy is an
issue in alot of people's minds, but this can be easily remedied with
the program
that I use. It is not fail safe, but if the GEDCOM is properly dated
alot of this can
be avoided.
>>>CLANTON-L and CLANTON-D subscription<<< will be the standard message with
subscription information for those who want to join the mail list.
Any ideas are welcomed. Would like to see some fun items added to list on a
monthly basis, so that people who find the site will want to return to see
what has changed, been updated, etc. Identifying the mystery CLANTON had
been suggested, this could be fun. A page set aside for highlighting a
famous or infamous CLANTON could be fun and changing that page on a monthly
basis.
Put the thinking caps on folks!
