My great grandfather Clyde Clanin of Grant County, Indiana had a brother named
onnie. My father remembers him and remembers they called him Con. Their
ather's name was Thompson. I don't recall anyone saying we were part Cherokee,
o maybe there is another Connie Clanin (wife Mildred) out there.

I am also a Thompson Clanin (Grant County) descendant. Thompson's son Clyde was
y great grandmother. I knew my great grandfather well as he lived to a ripe
ld age. I remember some little things he would tell me about his parents. He
elt his mother died from having too many babies which is probably why he only
ad one child. anyway...
I have read that the Clanin name is probably an altered form of the Scottish
ame McClanahan.

Hi, I'm Roberta Larson. My Dad, T. Edward Clanin spent many summers at and lived for awhile at Uncle Clydes & Aunt Florences. My Dads, dad and Clyde were brothers. I remember Jack Brooks. He is Maxines son. We have visited Maxine years ago and kept in contact, but it stopped, so we assumed she passed. She took us to the cemetary, where we got to see all the Clanin's sites. I very much enjoyed that visit.
I remember Clyde making ice cream made from fresh milk, we had just gotten when he taught me to milk a cow. My Dad was a plumber, welder by trade and he put a bathroom in for them, they didn't have one for years, so we spent almost a whole summer with them.I also remember Florences beautiful garden. Lots of flowers!
Well, I could go on more, but just wanted to answer you, how ever late.
Roberta Larson

Hopefully you will get this. My great grandfather was Clyde Clanin (born in
witzer or Swayzee, Grant County, Indiana) and I spent much time with him. My
ather, Jack Clanin Brooks lived with him while growing up and he remembers
oing to visit relatives in Illinois once. It might have been a William Clanin
am not sure. Jack thinks it was a brother of Clyde but I can't find evidence
f that. If you can tell me more about William that would be great. If Your
amily has roots to Grant county, Indiana we are probably relatives.
