First of all I wanted to say hello. I was brought here while trying to find information on the family name. In doing so I remembered my grandfather James Clanin had spent alot of his time researching and gathering information and his name came up multiple times in the archives. I thought I would post some information on him so that if anyone is still updating they will have it.
Born James "Jim" Albertus Clanin April 4, 1929 in Oklahoma City.
Date of death April 6, 2007 in Oklahoma City.
He joined the USAF where he served 21 years, 1 month and 1 day before retiring at Lowery AFB on June 1, 1972. Shortly after retiring he moved to George West, TX where he worked for the school system, became an EMT, reserve depuety sheriff, jailer, and bailiff in the Live Oak County law enforcement system.
Jim is survived by his wife, 4 children, 11 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 3 half sisters and 2 half brothers.
His parents were James Olin Clanin, Whilma Eleanor (Powell) Clanin.

HI Brad!
Thanks so much for the update. I had corresponded with Jim on numerous
occasions and bought one of his "books" on the Clanin family. I had wondered
what had happened to him. I'm sorry for your loss.
My grandfather is Clifford C. Clanin b may 12, 1912,(George and Mary Clanin,
William and Charlotte Clannin, Reuben and Mary Clannin, Samuel and Hannah
Clannin, Benjamin and Mary Clannin) he is still living and has full mental
and most physical faculties intact. He'll be 96 this year. He helps from
time to time with a lot of Indiana and Illinois family stories.
Have a nice day.
sherrie ;-)

Hello All,
I'm hoping someone might be able to assist me. I recently discovered that my late father James S McCulloch was born James S Clanin to mother Beulah in Iowa in 1926. I had no idea that Beulah had remarried to a McCulloch who adopted my father and gave him the surname McCulloch. If anyone knows of this family I would love to learn more.
Thanks very much!
Jim
