Hi Gang,
Hope this goes through. We need more laws such as this to protect
the entire cemetery.
(Oklahoma City, OK) -- A bill to set punishment for the theft of Civil War
gravestones has been unanimously approved by the Oklahoma House.
The bill would make such thefts a misdemeanor crime punishable by up
to six months in jail and a $5-thousand fine. It's the second try on the
bill for its sponsor, Representative Tad Jones of Claremore. He filed a
similar bill two years ago, but it died in a House committee. This time,
the bill will go on to the Senate for approval. Jones says he learned the
gravestones were being stolen by a friend who was active in Civil War
reenactments. The gravestones are highly prized collectors items. Some
people keep them as mementoes, others barter them on the Internet.
Clanin Cousins,
Beware of this "genseekers". I've seen warnings before. Unless
you are
really curious, don't even go to that URL. It is a scam. Don't give them
any info.
