Hi-
Thanks for the explanation on the tithe books and the boundaries. That is helpful.
Philip's neighbor in 1901, Bridget Clancy, was indeed his mother. However, I just checked the 1911 census and Philip is still there, but in a different house listed as house 1 in 1911.
Also, I discovered that Patrick is listed in the 1901 census, but as Glancy in house 26. His father was still alive and was 80 and Patrick 35. I checked the baptism records. While two Patrick Clancy/Glancy's were baptized in Killanummery Parish, it was in 1830 and 1832, 10 years later that he would have been born. The only other was Patrick Glancy in 1825, but in Rocullen in Cloone Parish.
We cannot find a record of Philip's birth or baptismal certificate.
I don't believe the old house still stands. We still have a few relatives who live near there, with others having moved to Sligo, but in newer houses.

Hi-
While the older Philip is who I am most interested in, as he is my great-great-great grandfather (the younger Philip is my great-great grandfather), I am interested in how Patrick fits into the picture. The copy of the civil marriage marriage registration that we have for the younger Philip shows that the younger Patrick got married on the same date in the same church.
I really appreciate the offer to look up the microfilm reels. That is very kind. If I have any need I will let you know.
You mentioned in an earlier post that it is possible to see the Dolan house on google streetview. What do you type in to view it?

Hi
In 1901 the old man Clancy is Patrick though, not Philip. I thought you're looking for Philip.
Anyway, the Killanummery records start at 1829 and only have a few records in the first few years so you won't find any of those old timers births in any official records.
The civil records start at 1864, so there no help either.
If you have any particular problems with the parish records, I can look up the microfilm reel for you in the National Library next time I'm there. It's not indexed though, but if I have a doubt over a date etc I look up the handwritten parish record and see for myself.

Hi
the Tithe books go on the old townland system before they were changed for the Ordnance Survey of 1841 - some townlands were renamed, boundaries re-drawn and some left alone.
Moher doesn't officially exist anymore but its in Killavoggy and Beagh. The Dolans of Moher is now in Beagh for example and the house still stands. (On google streetview too)
So a family in Killavoggy or Beagh in 1901 may have been in Moher in 1834.
I would assume the Philip who died in 1836 is the Philip in the Tithes but always keep open the possibility it was an infant. Because the Philip Clancy in Killavoggy in Griffiths is probably on the same farm as Philip in Moher in 1834. Same man or his son.
I see Philips neighbour in 1901 is Bridget Clancy from Cavan, his mother?
And by 1911 Philip is gone and Patrick has moved into his house it looks like.
I'm not sure where the old Clancy house is in Killavoggy, does it still stand?
Also, Philips birth cert and baptism cert from 1867/8 should tell you parents.

Hi-
Thank you for the response. I found Philip in the 1901 census, but not Patrick. However, Patrick does appear in the 1911 census.
I don't know how they related to the original Philip. The younger Philip's father was Philip and Patrick's father was named Patrick. The original Philip would have been in is 50s when Philip and Patrick were born. The only thing that makes me consider that he could be the younger Philip's father is that there is a civil death record from 1870 for Philip Clancy from Killavoggy and the informant is Philip Clancy. I thought this would be the Philip married in 1894, unless I am missing a generation. The other information I have is that a Philip Clancy married Bridget Sheridan in the Killanummery Parish in 1851. There is also a Philip Clancy in KIllavoggy listed in the Griffith's valuation.
There is also a Philip Clancy listed in the 1834 tithe books, but living in Moher (where there is a family connection as the younger Philip's wife Mary Dolan hails from there). There is also a Church Burial record for a Philip Clancy in Moher in 1836. I don't know how he fits into the picture, if at all.

Hi
I'm also researching families in Killavoggy.
I'd assume those two were brothers but I doubt they were the original Philip's sons, probably grandsons.
Did you find them on the 1901 census in Killavoggy?
Eugene
