Hi Jane,
Just a line to let you know that there is a DNA project for the Clancy name. We are part of the Breifne project with Family Tree in Texas.
The website is www.familytreedna.com. Breifne is an ancient name for an area in North West Ireland.
Hope this helps.
Maria

After a 40 year search for "our" Bartley S. Clancy (middle initial from land records) and his brother Daniel Clancy, we are entering into the DNA world of searching. In the 1850 census of Pike co Alabama, USA, Bartley Clancy said he was born in SC in 1797. His son's Bible record confirms this. Bartley's brother Daniel Clancy was in Butler co AL in 1850 (these two counties adjoined). He also said he was born in SC in 1800. We have been unable to tie these two men to their birth family. We can find no trace of either of them in South Carolina. We have found no US DNA boards for the surname CLANCY (any spelling: CLENCY, CLANSEY, CLANCEY). Family lore has them coming to South Carolina from Ireland. I am seeking directions for exploring the DNA possibilities there.

Felix and Mary's daughter, Mary Clancy McNamara Flood is my ggg grandmother. I have information on two of her four children with McNamara (John or Anthony).
Would anyone have any further information as to where in Ireland the Clancy family hailed?
