I am related to Georgie Thornhill and my grandparents are Mae Holmes and John Joseph Clancy. My grandfather had a relative named Johanna in Ireland. He lived for awhile in Dublin, where I think he went to college.

I think our families may be related. My Grandmother's sister Johanna Clancy from Glencannone, Kildysert, County Clare, married John Clancy from Ballynacally, County Clare. They had 12 children (that I know of), one was John J, who married Mae Holmes. Others are:
Margaret married Charles Stevens
George married Delia Ryan
Catherine married Michael J King
Anna married George Thornhill
Eliza married Vincent Hehir (stayed in Ireland)
These are the only one I know that married, the other childrens names are
Patrick
Thomas
Mary
Susan
Agnes
Teresa
If any of these names sound familiar please let me know.

I just came back last Monday from Ireland and I did visit the Leitrim Genealogy Center...I had emailed them what I knew about my grandparents (I had very little information) before I arrived in Ireland and they put together some facts which I had never heard about. I am even more thrilled now and will allow them to further research. They were extremely pleasant and thoughtful when we arrived. It was my first visit to Ireland and I fell in love with it. My grandfather's name was Michael Clancy and my grandmother was Delia McGloin. He was 28 years older than she....They came to America around 1910. I have a feeling he was here before. There's a Mick Clancy mentioned, and also a Pat Clancy. My grandfather was born 8/22/1860 in the County of Leitrim and Glenade Parish...all this information is important when researching but all I gave the researchers was the county as it was all I had. Sorry this is so long but I will add more when I get it.

I have a John George Clancy, b. about 1871, Ulster Co., NY. d. July 4, 1917 in Bellevue Hospital, NYC. His parents were William Clancy and Elizabeth McCadden Clancy. They were both born in Ireland in the 1820's. I'm awaiting some more information, so this is all I have on him for now. How are you related? I'd be happy to correspond with you if you think J.G. Clancy is a match.
