Hi Jacky, I hope your right, about a connection and it looks like you might be. I don't have any siblings for my gggrandfather John CLANCY. And no concrete evidence that they came from Barr of Farrow, but there is a Lackey CLANCY on the 1834 Tithe records and my gggrandparents named one of their oldest son Lackey. Kind of an unusual first name. I have found it as a surname. There's also a Thomas,James, John,Daniel & Charles sr.&jr.on the Tithe record. My gggrandparents went to Boston, Massachusetts, but I haven't found John there yet, I have a feeling he may have died in Ireland. I found his wife,Cecilia & children. If you think there's a connection I'll send you what info. I have. Like you I don't have much for them in Ireland.I've been in touch with a John CLANCY living in Virginia researching his CLANCY family, also from Leitrim Co., his family immigrated to New York. Keep in Touch. Pat

Hello Pat,
I think we may have some sort of connection. In my family tree I have a Mary Clancy, born about 1826. Her parents were Thomas and Bridget Clancy according to her death registration. In 1840, she married Thomas O'Brien, born about 1815-20, and I have a birth certificate that mentions the town of their marriage was Farrabarr, Co. Leitrim, which after some research, I have discovered was also known as Farrow of Barr, or Barr of Farrow.
My Mary and her husband Thomas came to Glasgow, Scotland between 1844 and 1850.
I am sorry I do not know much more than what is here as far as their Irish life went, but have uncovered a great deal about her life in Glasgow, where she died in 1889.
Please let me know what you think!
Jacky
