Thank you Eilis!
This is great information! I've found a few more Irish ancestors from the same time period that this will help with too, so I can't wait to explore this site!
And as an update to my original post, have found correct maiden name is Cavanaugh, and it's John, not Henry Clancy, but possible it might be John Henry, still working on that.

Donna,
Both Clancy and McGrath are very common surnames in Ireland so to find specifically where Henry and Margaret Clancy originated in Ireland you'd actually need to research US church and civil records for them and their children.
Following is a URL which provides information on records to research. While the URL also relates to researching in Co. Kerry, Ireland, the first section, "Where Do I Begin" has a list of research sources. Each item on that list has a link which provides much more detail.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I do get records regularly from the Mallow Heritage Center since I have too many family lines in that area to ask Canon Twomey. I did write to him once because I was having difficulty with the spelling of a name, and I met him on one of my trips to KIldorrery. As for LDS records, since this is a RC church record, there is no film of baptismal records from this parish, and civil records did not begin until 1864 so there would be no filmed birth record. I keep hoping I will find someone connected to Carrolls from Kildorrery and that they will have had family information passed on to them, which might provide me with a puzzle piece. I cannot trace back to even one of my ggrandmother's siblings.

Jan,
You can contact the church if you want further detail on the family in Co. Cork or look at Cork church records at a LDS Family History Centre.
