Virginia, there may be a connection.. I would have to have more information. One of my Clancy's stayed in that area and may be a decentdent. Probably a descendent of Peter Clancy
My gg grandmother was Margaret CLANCY - listed on my g grandmother's and
sibling's death certificates. I am unable to trace her. The death
certificate of my g grandmother, Elizabeth SIMONS HANTKE states that
Margaret CLANCY was the mother and the father was George SIMONS. I am
certain they were from NY around 1840 because my g grandmother, Elizabeth
Simons, was born in Rochester in 1839/1849 according to Elizabeth Simons
marriage records to my g grandfather, Ferdinand HANTKE in 1860.
Elizabeth had two younger siblings that I know of - Mary J(ane)born around
1844, and Zachariah, born approximately 1849. All three are buried in our
family plot.
Somehow, I get the feeling that Margaret and George divorced or separated,
and went on their separate ways. I only assume this because I can not find
a trace of them together.
The family was in Brooklyn area and are also buried there. I do not know
the whereabouts of burial for George or Margaret.
Does anyone have them in their tree, or a SIMONS OR CLANCY family from
Rochester, NY, or Brooklyn area? I am hoping someone will recognize them.
It also stated that Margaret CLANCY was born in USA on two of three
certificates, and that George was born in Germany.
I am most grateful for any help that one can give me. Any clues?
Susan Hantke-Ogden

My father-in-law (Raymond Clancy) had an uncle who died in the late 1980's/early 90's who lived in Westport, Ontario. He was married to a nice woman that my husband called his Aunt Teeny Weeny. She was a school teacher. They lived right in the village on the same road that Lyons-Goodfellow Furniture Store is located. Anyways, that uncle was a Clancy. I believe his name was John.
Any relations?

Patrick Clancy, his wife, and their children came over during the 1825 Robinson Expedition on the ship The Resolution. They eventually settled in Emily Township (Keene area). Patrick Clancy is the ancestral grandfather (many times back) of my husband. I believe Bridgitte was his daughter.
There was also a John Clancy who came to the Peterborough area during the Robinson Expedition. He was on the ship The Albion. I wonder if the two Clancy's were direct kin (brothers?). John settled in Otonabee Township.

Looking for parents/siblings of Bridget Clancy, born in Ireland and came to NY around 1840's, who married John Normoyle. They had a daughter, Elizabeth (Bessie) Normoyle who was born in NY, on Sept 30, 1859. Daughter Bessie married Samuel Mellison and they had 10 children. Bridget (also went by Bea or Bess) owned a Boarding house, later turned in to a Hotel in NY. It is believed she later remarried after her husband John's death and moved to California.
