Did any of your CLANCY ancestors work on the railroads? I have just created a message board on Ancestry.com for U.S. Railroad Accidents. If you have news articles or stories regarding accidents that occurred on the railroads, in train depots, on train bridges, etc., please post them on the Railroad Accidents board along with all surnames involved. And be sure to check the board for your surnames. Stories will be added regularly. The new board is here:
Boards>Topics>Disasters>United States>Railroad Accidents
Go to main Message Boards Page.
Under topics click on “browse all topics.”
Click on Disasters.
Click on United States.
Click on Railroad Accidents.
If you think you’ll want to return to this category regularly, go to the Railroad Accidents message board and from just above the messages click on Add to Favorites or Add to Notifications. This will make it much easier to access the Railroad Accidents board on future visits to Ancestry.com.

At first blush there is a probable connection between your Judge Clancy and the one from Clancy, Montana. Both are described as having a drinking problem and both are described as colorful. But it doesn't appear to be the lost brother I am seeking info on.
Thanks....John Jos Clancy

I don't think it's the same Judge Clancy. The one from here dated a woman from here, but they broke off their relationship, and neither of them ever married. Our Judge William Clancy was considered the Samuel Tilden of Knox County, Missouri. It is believed he moved to Butte, Montana, was possibly a judge there, was a colorful character with a drinking problem. His parents, David and Ellen Clancy, are buried in the Old St. Joseph's Cemetery in Edina, Missouri--Knox County.

Am unsure if the Judge lived in Mo. Two Clancy brothers came from County Cork and after residing in NYC for a brief period went to the coal mines of PA.
As the story goes, both were courting a young teacher. One evening at the local pub they had a "discussion" concerning this situation with the result that John married her.
William disappeared that night and has not been heard from since then.
If you think this may be the same William "Judge" Clancy, let me know. Thanks...

Did this Judge William Clancy ever live in Knox County, Missouri? If so, I have information on him and his family.
