My grandparents were also from Sioux City, IA- Eugene and Clarabelle Clancey. I'm not sure who James Clancey is, but perhaps there is a connection. Eugene and Clarabelle had two children, Douglas(my father) and Shirley.
Yes they first went to Canada and then ended up in SiouxCity, Iowa

Looking for information on a William Clancy, son of John and Eliza Clancy [Eliza's original name was Whiteside]. Eliza is buried in Tallaght, Dublin.
William went to Trinity College Dublin and qualified as a barrister in 1849. After that, I have not been able to find any info on him.
Any information on him or his family would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Dennis,
Capt. John is my Great Great Grandfather. His son Patrick is my Great Grandfather born of his first wife Hannah Flaherty Clancy. Bridget Foley was his second wife and was the mother of the children you have mentioned. He married Hannah in 1858 I believe in California. Hannah died in 1879 from gallbladder trouble at 40 years old. I dont know the year he married Bridget Foley. But I do know that Bridget died in 1945 and was 96 years old! I have not heard of the Lydia Harvey ship, but I did hear of the Stars and Stripes and the terrible storm that it met with in December of 1870. I know that Capt. John was not feeling well and stayed at home that day. I believe that John's uncle Patrick was amoung the crew that was lost.
I know that he is buried in the New Calvary cemetary and died in 1904.
Recently my neice was married in Millis. My father, Norman had spent many happy times as a child at the Millis Farm. He was able to go and remember that day as the family farm was right down the street from where the wedding had taken place!
Anyway several years ago I recieved a yellow folder containing information about the Clancy Clan. There are some great stories in this folder. If you have not recieved it....I would be happy to share it with you. My father is also a weath of information and one of these days I am going to have to record it!
Smiles
Karen Clancy
