This is a long shot but..
I have a Michael Clancy who immigrated to US with his parents in 1840. He was born c1831. He disappeared sometime after the 1850 Bradford County PA Census. He was definitely born in County CLARE. Before we discard possible connection could you tell me anything you know about him before his immigration to Australia. Did he come directly from Ireland or via US? Where was he married and where were his pre-Australia children born?
Thanks,
John Clancy (NJ)
Margaret CLANCY born 1839 Newmarket, Co.Clare Ireland. Parents were James CLANCY and Hanorah MARONEY. Margaret married James LIDDY (from Drumoland Co. Clare) in 1861 in Newmarket. They had 2 children, Margaret born c1862 and James Kenneth born c1867 and then they emigrated to Australia. I cannot find a shipping record for them.
There was also a son John CLANCY born to James and Hanorah Maroney c1848. John CLANCY married Mary O'FARRELL (from Kilkenny) c1883 in Ireland and they also emigrated to Australia probably the same year.
Any information on this family would be appreciated.
My gg grandmother was Margaret CLANCY. According to death certificates of
relatives, she was married to George SIMONS. I do not know for how
long-whether or not they parted or stayed together. They had one child,
Elizabeth,
who was my g grandmother, and then also Mary J.(ane) and Zachariah that I
know of. They lived in NY state , to the best of my knowledge. Elizabeth,
Mary J(ane), and Zachariah resided in Brooklyn, where they died and are buried.
I have the latter three buried in my family plot - I do not know where
Margaret CLANCY
SIMONS or husband George SIMONS are buried. Has anyone come across a
Margaret CLANCY?
My g grandmother, Elizabeth SIMONS, was born about 1839/40.
Hoping to hear from someone soon.
Susan

Hello Christine, I do believe you have found a living connection to your father's side. Let me give you some of the info I have, First of all James Clancey was married to Mary Poe they had 10 children, my great grandfather was their son Michael who married Ellen Coleman on Nov. 1st, 1888, they had 4 children and yes the Clancey's did own a meat market in SiouxCity. They did come via Canada. Some where along the line I believe two Clancey's married the two Coleman sister's and thats how we connect. This is great I'm glad I found you and I'll send more stuff when I have a little more time. could you tell me your birth year and your brothers... Talk to you soon. If you want you can E Mail me back at soldierblue73(a)msn.com
Hello, Patricia...I hope you can read this because I have no idea what secret password, etc, I used when I first played around on this Ancestry.com site 1 1/2 yrs ago so I don't know if I am replying to you or just writing these words for my own entertainment...I know so very little about my Clancy side but a couple of things you said leads me to believe maybe we are related in some distant way. My father was Robbert Clancy, born in 1920 in Ames or Sioux City, I believe, to James Clancey and Winifred Coleman Clancey. Dad passed away in '96 and, sure, he was an only child and as far as I know any of his aunts and uncles and cousins are probably gone now, too. Dad's father spelled the surname with that "e" but I could never get a straight answer why Dad was Clancy with no "e." I never even knew about the "e" until I was driving cross-country in '91 and I found my way to Sioux City and went to the county sourthouse or city hall, etc, asking where the Catholic Cemetery was a!
nd somehow managed to find my grandparents' graves and there the stone said Clancey alright. I never heard anything about Poe relatives but now that you mention that, Dad did say on a couple of occasions we were distantly related to Edgar Allen Poe by marriage. I always thought he was kidding, because he was a great storyteller, but is there actually truth to this line? He did have a cousin named Roe who was a US Marshall in the Sioux City area, we visited that family when we were out there during the Bicentennial summer of '76. But you mentioned something about Colemans and that was Dad's mother's maiden name. Here's another thing I've always wondered about...do you know anything about any Clanc(e)y coming to Iowa by way of Canada? I've always heard that grandfather Clancey and perhaps his brother Louis (Uncle Louie) came through Canada but Dad could never tell me which province. I know grandfather Clancey (he and my grandmother , I believe, were separated but not di!
vorced...and he passed away in '58, she in '72) was a butcher in Sioux City. Grandmother Clancy came from a large family, I don't know if all the brothers and sisters came over from Ireland or what, but she did have one sister named Margaret Ann who was a nun and lived a long while in Monroe, MI, before passing away in '94. If any of this sounds like bits and pieces from your Clancey or Clancy heritage, do let me know. It would be nice to know I have some living connection to my father's side as well! Hope to hear from you soon. By the way, I live in the northern VA/DC area now and I work for United Airlines. My brother Robert is married and they live over near Baltimore. We just helped our mom love last week down in FL from a smaller house to a new 2BR apt in a new senior complex in the same town where Bob and I grew up; we moved there when Dad retired from the AF back in '66.
My great great grandfather was James Clancey married to mary Poe lived in SiouxCity Iowa. Their son was my great grandfather michael. James and Mary had 10 children. Martin,Mary,Ellen,Theresa,Michael,Bridget,Martha,Agusta, John, and Josephine. I have more info please contact me. My grandfather Michael's son Raymond died when my dad was only 6 so it has been hard to find things out and my dad has cancer and this would really make his day if he knew I finally found a Clancey that had family in Iowa. I'll share rest of my info when I hear from you....MY grandfather Michael Clancey was married to Ellen Coleman....

De Ann, thanks for the advice. Got back from my trip to Ontario and found what I was looking for. Now am in search for a place in Cork County. Couldn't get the whole spelling as it was hand written. It was Enoflow, or Eno?low, Co Corke. Any one know of a place this might be.
Anyone researching William and Margaret Glancey. Family was in Philadelphia
as of 1850. Trying to establish roots in Ireland as well as connections of
children.

Seeking any information on my grandfather, John Clancy/Glancy, born 16 August 1904 in Bridgeton, Glasgow, SCT to parents John Clancy/Glancy and Sarah Hart.
John Clancy/Glancy Sr. and Sarah Hart were married 7 January 1898 in Calton. Sarah was born 8 Oct 1876 to John Hart and Mary Logan. John Clancy/Glancy may have been the son of Patrick Glancy and Catherine Flinn.
Hi Ernene,
My feeling is that not many are going to take the trouble to look for the message posted under CLANCEY.
Why not put the details here as well?
My choice would be to post both spellings here and let the other CLANCEY board waste away... there's little on it anyway.

A new development on the surname boards is found under the heading "Links & Announcements" up on top.
Here is where I'll be putting links to your pages.
If you have a CLANCY web page, let me know the URL if you want to have a link to it placed here.
I can not find this "links and announcements" to find the new Clancy webpage. Could you send me the URL website ? I even looked in ancestry.
Thanks.

Looking for the parents and/or siblings of James Bertram Clancy born about 1863 died Nov 1927 in Toronto Ontario Canada. Any info would be appreciated. I have some info on some of his descendants.
My understanding is there were two DeWine brothers who emigrated from Ireland - one went to Ohio and the other migrated to Tennessee. My Aunt Teresa (nee White) married the Tennessee DeWine (Robert DeWine). An interesting side note is my parents lived in Southern Ohio when they were first married (late 40's/early 50's) and my older sisters went to school with DeWine's however my Aunt Teresa had not met/married into the Dewine's.
My relatives in Tennessee are linked to Clancy's through my grandmother whose maiden name is Clancy. I was named after
my Great Aunt Marie Clancy.
