Looking for information regarding Michael Clancy and his wife, Sarah McDonald Clancy of Port Austin & Caseville, Michigan in 1870s & 1880s. Children were Rebecca, Caroline, Catherine, James, Thomas, Francis, Edward.
I am facing a solid brick wall, with my gg grandparents. I have documents
of my g grandparents which states my gg grandmother was named Margaret
CLANCY and her husband was George SIMONS. They had three children that I
know of, my g grandmother, Elizabeth (born about 1839/40); Mary J.(ane),
(born around 1844) ; and, Zachariah, (born about 1849). All three children
had the surname SIMONS and are buried in family plot in Brooklyn.
Elizabeth SIMONS married Ferdinand HANTKE In NYC in 1860 at age 21. It
states on her certificate that her nativity was Rochester, and state is
unclear, but am sure it was NY....second guess would be Wisconsin, but it
stated on another one of siblings death certificate that had lived in NY
state all of life, so that is why I surmise NY.
I believe that Margaret (nee CLANCY) and George SIMONS may have lived in
Brooklyn and area later on in life. Do not know if George and Margaret
divorced, or remained married, as I found to separate names and addresses
in census at one time - can not find the research now, and hope it was not
on the back of a discarded paper! I also do not know if CLANCY was
Margaret'se birth surname, or surname from a former marriage, if she had
one. My research has not been successful with these two people!
Can anyone help me? Has anyone run across either name in their research,
or family lineage?
Please email me and I will reply and see if it is the same people.
Thanks.
