We may be the Clancey's you are looking for. My father was Doug, son of Eugene, whose father was Martin, whose father was Patrick Clancey who we were told was married to Mary Poe. I have been attempting to put our history together since I was in high school, but I keep running into brick walls.
Marty Clancey

Hello Christine! Upon reading your posting, I see that we are relatives!! In fact, I believe we met when you came to Sioux City in '76. Bob Clancey and my father, Doug Clancey, were cousins, as were Jack and Bud Roe!!! Yes, Jack was a US Marshall, and later moved to El Cajon, CA, but I have lost track of him since then. I was 12 in 1976, but I have 7 brothers and sisters. I don't know how old you are, but I'm sure I have a sibling your age! My oldest brother is Marty, then Margaret Ann(Maggie), then Connie, and Doug, Donna, Mike, myself, and Fred. My husband and I live in the Virginia Beach vicinity, actually Elizabeth City in northeastern North Carolina. My father died of a massive heart attack in 1977, so we probably met that year before. It's interesting that you mentioned your father didn't use the "e". I remember that being the case, but I can't remember why. As far as the Edgar Allan Poe story- yes, I always heard that as well, but we've come to believe that !
that was just a story!! My oldest brother, Marty, is really the ancestor buff in the family, and his information may be a bit different than what you have, though he hadn't looked at it in a while. He told me that Patrick Clancey came over on the boat from Ireland, made his way through Canada "sowing his wild oats" and married Mary Poe(probably where the Edgar Allan Poe story comes from!). They had four children(I think), one of whom was my great grandfather, Martin Clancey, who owned a butcher shop in Sioux City. He was married to Delphine Dagle and they had 8 or 9 children by the names of Clara, Eva, Florence, James, my grandfather Eugene, and some others I'm still researching.
What a small world! I hope you get this soon, and please e-mail me directly!! (lohsecl(a)adelphia.net)

I was interested to see that your father is Robert Clancey, born 1922. My father was Douglas Clancey, born 1927, and I believe both were cousins! I remember meeting "Bob Clancey" when I was a child. Did he live in Florida? If this is the same person, he came to see us in Sioux City (Leeds) in the early 70's. My father also had a sister, Shirley Schumacher. Two of his cousins were Jack Roe(who lived in Sioux City) and Bud Roe (who lived in Hawaii). They were children of Florence (Clancey) Roe who was a sister to my grandfather Eugene Clancey. Florence and Eugene also had siblings by the names of Clara, Eva, James, and some others I'm still researching. I'm number 7 of 8 children born to Douglas Clancey and Margaret Dreves. Will send more information as I receive it.
Hi!
I'm STILL looking for any information on a Bernard F. Clancy and Catherine
(Nellie) O'Brien from Marlborough, MA. I don't know if they were born in
Marlborough or just settled there. They had a son (my father-in-law) in
March of 1901--Henry Joseph Clancy. Any info would be most appreciated.
Thanks!
