I am researching the origin of Clampett and Clampitt families in Ireland
pre-1900
My own Clampett ancestors can be traced to Tallaght (near Dublin, Ireland)
but the info is vague
I have a John Clampett b.circa 1800 - d 16 May 1879, father of Jane Clampett
1830 - 3 Feb 1898 and John Clampett c 1837
John Clampett married Mary Kerr circa 1860 and they had three children,
Martha b. 13 Feb 1862, John b. 17 Jul 1868 - 1951 and Thomas (my
grandfather) b. 1871 - d. 2 Dec 1948. In this generation John married
Harriet Clarke and Thomas married Mary McKellar (from Argyll in Scotland)
Is any of this familiar to anyone?
Regards
Ian Mulroy
Ian,
In researching Clampitt's in the U.S., I have come across a couple of
Clampitt's who were born in Ireland. I will need to go through my database
and see if I can find them. I don't know if it will help you find the
Clampitt's you listed, but perhaps they will turn out to be related.
More later. I'm late for work!
