Think we have spoken before re CLAMPS, recognise the Farring Clamp
My Grandmother was a CLAMP, My lot were from South Creake in Norfolk, Tho my dad seemed to Think they were Originally maybe wayy back from Yorkshire
The Furthest i have back thru looking at Parish Registers is HENRY CLAMP(ggggRandfather) born circa 1730 Think Norfolk
In regards to FARRING CLAMP...Could FARRING maybe be a Family Name too?
Have u Checked Parish Registers in Bermondsey Surrey too
Saw your posting in June 2006 re this
I am searching for information on Henry William Clamp
christened in Manchester, Lancanshire in 1832.
His parents were Farring Clamp/Sarah Watson who were married in Bermondsey in 1819.
I have Henry on the 1841-51-61 census in Lancashire. On the 1861 census he is still single, living with his parents and is shown as a brewers clerk.
I have not been able to find a marriage or death for him after 1861, and have not found him on any other census.
Can anyone help me?
Thank you
Ok My lot were in Bermonsey Surrey too at one stage and were Brewers Clerks, and often trades seemed to stick within families too
Do u have ancestry access??U can check for any more info on your Clamps?

My maternal ancestors are Clamps. My g/father was Richard Ferring Clamp, born in Liverpool, his father was Richard Edumund Clamp born in London, and his father was Farring Clamp, not quite sure where he was born as on three census it gives three different places - Bury St.Edmunds, Suffolk, = Ipswich, Norfolk and Canterbury City - his date of birth would have been around 1799. I have not been able to find the birth of Richard Edmund Clamp (approx.1825) or Farring Clamp - would anyone have any informatin on these Clamps.
Thank you.
Bev
