I am searching for information on Henry William Clamp
christened in Manchester, Lancanshire in 1832.
His parents were Farring Clamp/Sarah Watson who were married in Bermondsey in 1819.
I have Henry on the 1841-51-61 census in Lancashire. On the 1861 census he is still single, living with his parents and is shown as a brewers clerk.
I have not been able to find a marriage or death for him after 1861, and have not found him on any other census.
Can anyone help me?
Thank you

My great grandmother was Florence Daisy Clamp, sister of Annie Elizabeth and daughter of John Henry Clamp. Florence Daisy lived in New Bradwell all her life. I have never been to the churchyard in New Bradwell although I did once have a drive through to find some of the houses the family lived in. I don't even know when either John Henry or Annie Elizabeth died.

Our SC Clamps were in the US prior to the 1800s. However, I am interested in all theories of Clamp migration and as how the name may have evolved.
Thanks, Elma Clamp

Ifyou are from SC, we are probalby (almost surely) related. The name first appears as Clapp in the early census reports, and then evolves into Clamp between the 1850s and 1860s in SC..By the Civil War, they are all Clamps.
