I am trying to solve a family puzzle.
At the time of her marriage to Albert Spurin, she calls herself miriam claire. But at the time of the birth of her first child, she is marked as Amelia isabel nee clair. Trying to find a birth record for either name is impossible. Also no idea why she would have changed her name. Hoping someone will be able to shed some light on this.
Thx in advance

Thank you. I believe our Frank Clair was born in 1820's (parents from Germany) worked in Savannah in 1860's making boots for the confederate army. His son Anthony was my great great grandfather). He later moved to NY. I'm trying to find Franks parents. Thank you for responding. Good luck with your quest too!

Our Frank Clair was most likely born in Ontario, Canada in the late 1850's. We have been trying to track him down for many years. The only "hard" document that we have concerning him is a copy of his marriage license from Marysville, Marshall County, Kansas, when he married Elizabeth Jane McMains in 1886. He was last heard from in 1893, or so, when he and his family were residing in Exeter, Barry, Missouri.
