This Joseph Clair may be the brother of my Great great Grandfather, Charles Clair who was born in 1832 and lived mainly in Columbus NJ. He married Sarah Everham. He did have a nephew named Harry and another brother named Theodore. The ages all seem correct. All three were Civil War veterans. Charles died Dec. 28, 1922, age 90, at the State Soldier's Home in Vineland NJ. His parents were Joseph Clair and Rebecca Dudley, also of Columbus. I know that a Clair from this line did marry a Susannah Rockhill but I have to go dig a bit to confirm who and when. I have a huge amount of pictures and documents for this Clair line, tentatively back to revolutionary times. One of Charles's sons, Daniel, is my Great Grandfather
and was a Methodist minister in NJ until his death in 1937.He married Ida E. Willard of Smithville, NJ. They had MANY children (10) seven of whom lived long lives. Iv'e been turning up cousins lately like they're going out of style. Perhaps you're another one, eh?
There are other Clairs from Gloucester County but I haven't been able to confirm a connection yet.
