I must be of a different line since my distant relatives appear to have come from France (LeClerc/LaClaire/Clair and now Claire).

Dear Pauline,
The Clair's I'm following are not this branch. If they are related it would be further back.
I don't know any names of Michael Clair's siblings or parents. Although I suspect they might have spent some time in Canada.

Dear Pauline,
I'm not sure where Michael Clair(born 1824) or his sons, Winfield, Loren or Frank were born. All except Frank were said to have been born in New York State. Do any of theses names fit with yours?
Thanks.

Don,
Thank you very much for the info. I will need to gather more info concerning my g-grandfather John Clair. I do not know who his parents were, so the names you provided are not familiar to me at this time. I will definitely need to do some digging.
