Mary: Thank you for the census information on the Clairs. I have recently gotten some more information from my father about my Clair family, and I will check your information with the information I just obtained. This could prove to be very helpful. Once again, thank you. Leslie

I was looking through all the Clair census records for New York for another Clair family and found this, which may or may not be the family you are looking for:
1860 Census for Niagara County, Hartland p.994 ID#58357910
John Clair 47 born Penn
Elizabeth Clair 46 born Penn
Elizabeth Jr Clair 9 born NY
John Jr Clair 3 born Canada.
This John is listed as younger, but census' are not perfect.
The place of his birth, is OK. And the name given to John Jr oldest daughter could be a family name.

If anyone has any information on Clair in Mississippi I would appreciate any help I could get. I've been looking for 2 years and have come to believe that they went by a different name in the early 1800's. There isn't any family left to ask for help. Thank you!!! Vickie Hemby

Hi.,
I just got a really *Neat* note pad that I wanted to tell other Genealogy researchers about . It is the
"Crayola Draw & Write"
it is obviously made for the kids
the front says "learn to write" and "Draw a picture and tell a story"
and it has "new drawing idea's inside" with bright pre-school pictures on the front .
BUT ................ inside ............
it has 8X10 sheets (40 ), of white paper that are unlined on the top (slightly more than halfway down) then lined paper below it - (about 12 elementary school size lines). Both sides of the paper are the same so you can use the back too, and it is standard notebook weight and texture paper.
It is PERFECT for ................ when you need to make notes
that include maps or drawings of any kind ....... like drawing
diagrams/maps during cemetery visits , noting specific house
locations when visiting ancestor's hometowns - Plus you have the
space below the picture to write any pertinent notes. Since it is standard
8 X 10 paper it is the right size if you later want to punch holes to file
these diagrams in loose leaf notebooks ............ As soon as I saw it I
thought of the "cemetery maps" as I know how important it is to note
grave locations as "finding aids" for yourself and others in the future.
I imagine that others of you can think of many uses that I haven't. So
thought I would write and tell you all about it , especially as I would think
that in most stores it might be with the crayons and other children's art
supplies and many would never notice it - I was looking at crayons with
my grandson and probably would never have seen it while doing "grown
up" shopping.
The notepad was relatively inexpensive $ 1.99 here (central PA) and
should be much handier than having diagrams on one sheet and the notes
on another. Or drawing maps etc. on lined paper which always looks
sloppy to me no matter how carefully I draw them.
