Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Hello from a new subscriber. My name is Susan McMackin Reynolds, & I'm a
genealogist, & preservation consultant as well as a supplier of archival
materials, as well as wearing various other unrelated hats.
I have 2 contributions to make by way of introduction.
1.) I'm researching a Jerry & Mary Ryan CLAIR family who lived in
Painesville, Lake County OH c. 1900. Jerry & Mary came from Thurles,
Tipperery Ireland & were followed by Mary's brothers, Timothy, James, &
Michael RYAN.
I'm trying to fill in the blanks on these CLAIRs, both roots & branches.
This was the family of Judge John Clair, who was Mary & Jerry's son. Mary
was my grandfather Tim RYAN's sister. I'm very short on information about
this line as it goes back to Ireland, but do have more current inforkmation &
will be glad to share what I know. Of course I welcome any input that you
may have.
2.) On a couple of other lists that I'm on there has been some concern over
losing touch with genealolgy contacts because of changing email addresses.
Yhis happened to me also in a recent computer crash, so I have passed on to
them that the easiest way I personally have found to make sure that does not
happen is to register with
<A HREF="Genealogy & other groups at PlanetALL">PlanetAll</A> which
automatically updates my contacts' information in my address book.
They also have what's called genealogy hub, where one can make all sorts of
contacts, based on location, surname, societies, etc. I've found it useful &
perhaps one or two of you will also. You can check it out at the following
link:

The Genealogy Hub Group ID Number is, I believe, 63512
