RE: Wm. C. C. Claiborne children, Have you checked Slave Census Records on Ancestry.com. These go back to 1810 & will give you age range & gender, but not neccessarily names. For names, you might want to check on a copy of his Will, at LSU Library, Tulane Archives, and State of Louisiana Archives, as well as an inquiry to the Claiborne Society.
He married 3 times, and died at age 36, just prior to taking office in the Senate, as I recall. He was not a plantation owner, though he may have had a few house attendants.
One of his cousins was governor of Mississippi, who was a landowner, had numerous slaves. More info can be found at the Mississippi State Archives & Univ of Mississippi.

Best Claiborne History is "Claiborne of Virginia - the first 8 generations" by Dorman and Smith. Available from the Library of Virginia or at a major library. It's exhaustive and exhausting. Brings us up to the generation born 1825 - 1850. It's definitive.

Hi Dan,
I have been working on my geneology and have so far traced back to Peter Claiborne who was born around 1817. His wife's name was Ann. As far as I can tell they had 8 childred (Nelson, Stephen, Mary, Peter Jr, Dave, Lucy, Clara and my great Grandfater Henry. Henry was born in 1870 and died in 1950. They lived in St. Helena Parish Louisiana.
I could not get to your tree.

I invite you to join my Clayborn group as well. If you know the DNA Markers of paternal individuals, you can match them on this site.
