Looking for parents/siblings of Charles Claiborne, b 1846 (N.Carolina), d. 1934, Dyer co. Tn. Married Susan A Light (b. 1852) in 1865, after Civil War. Children: Lila, died young, Worth, b.1870's(?), Huard C, b. 1879, Addie, b. 1881, Light V., b. 1885, and Irvin Palmer, b. 1888 (husbands' grandfather). From 1880 census, his brother Robert, b. 1839, married Eugenia F. Barker, had children: John W, b. 1873, Robert A., b. 1875, Annie L, b. 1882, and Kate, b. 1886.
Both were civil war veterans, and may have had another brother who "died of disease" during the war.
I'm not able to find their parents...unles...they changed the spelling from CLIBORNE. All the censuses indicate they were born in N carolina, with father from Virginia. So in searching N.Carolina, the only thing i've found was Nathan Cliborne, from Raglands, Granville co. This seems to work, with the boys names, but doesn't work with the surname spelling.
Would like to find out if the name was changed & why? Who are parents/siblings? Were they Claiborne descendents(Wm, as in Sec.-Va) or Cliborne descendents (as in John-Dale Parrish)
If you have info, pls contact me p.claiborne(a)tx.rr.com. Or suggestions on land records, wills, etc.
Thanks!!
Paula
