Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Hi Dan,
I am confused as to which government agency you would file a FIA
request with. If you know the person's address in 1933, and I assume
you want to trace this person to the present day, search the likely
places first.
Did this person marry after 1933? Enlist in the Army in WWII? Die?
Have you checked city directories post 1933? Obits? Find-A-Grave? Did
this person have children? Buy land? Sell land?
All of these activities are public record and no FIA request is
required. What is required is some knowledge as to where the person
lived (and you have that in 1933) and where they might have moved to.
You mention that you want to find his family. Descendants I assume
again. Have you checked for surnames in the same town?
Happy Hunting,
Kevin Clayborn

W.C.C. Claiborne b.1773 is the sixth generation from SEcretary William
Claiborne (Wm 1, Thomas 2,3, Nathaniel 4, Wm 5) Substantial detail about
most of these people can be found in Dorman and Smith Claiborne of Va the
first Eight Generations available at the Library of Va.
The only reference to any Woodlief in that book is to a Peter who is
footnoted as having been an executor to Charles Poythress in Dinwiddie Co Va
in 1763. Charles Poythress married Catherine Crawforth Claiborne b. 1739
(Wm 1,2,3 Elizabeth Claiborne 4 (who married Ralph Crawforth (1) and Henry
Anderson (2). She died in 1761.

Does anyone know where I can attain address information (via freedom of information act) going forward of an individual if I have his address from 1933?
I want to use that as a starting point to searching for his family (if any).

Thanks!
Dan
Does anyone have information regarding the connections between the Claiborne
family of Virginia and W.C.C. Claiborne of Va. and Louisiana and their
connection to the Thomas Woodlief and wife Elizabeth Claiborne Woodlief
family of Va. N.Carolina and their
children who moved to Louisiana and Texas as adults.
Two of their sons moved to Louisiana. They were Peter William Woodlief, he
married Louise Modeste Bouligny, in Louisiana. ca. 1832 Her father was
Dominique Bouigny. Devereaux J. Woodlief married Harriet Jane Reynolds in
Brazoria Texas. Her father was Allen C. Reynolds from New York City, New
York.
I would like to connect Thomas Woodlief line to the W.C.C. Claiborne line.
Regaards,
L.Scott
