Karen,
I had a feeling that James might be the brother of Virginia Caroline "Jennie", but now you have confirmed that. Ophelia was the sister of Mary Eliza Napier born 1842 and Eugenia Ella Napier born abt 1834. They were the surviving children of Madison Claiborne and Mary Elizabeth Burch Napier. Evidently Jennie and Ella were very good friends as in the 1860 census of South Carolina, Archie and Jennie with 2 children have a live in Ella Napier. That is the sister I refer to above. I am a descendant of Mary Eliza Napier and Henry Peter Rey who married in 1858 in Independence Co. Arkansas, and lived in Independence Co in 1860 according to the census. Madison was also living in Independence Co. with two children from a later marriage, William D. and Alice Jane Napier. Madison died in December 1860 in Batesville, Arkansas. I have been in contact with the descendants of Ella for many years as my great great grandmother Mary Eliza Rey cooresponded with her sister from Paris, F!
rance (where she and Mr. Rey moved to in 1862 after my great grandfather Charles Edward was born) and London, England (where Mary Eliza died in 1876 of TB). Many of the letters referred to Ophelia and her family. That is how I know that James died about 1874. A letter from Mary Eliza to Ella questions what Ophelia will do now with all those children. I know Ophelia was alive when Mary Eliza died but that is all I know of her and the children from that point on. Ella evidently didn't save the letters she received from Ophelia as her descendants know little about her movements. If you would like to email directly, let me know. I am very interested and would love to share information.

They were orphaned a t an early age with Caroline dying 11 Jan 1842 in Holmes Co, MS and John died 16 Nov 1843 in Yazoo City, Yazoo Co, Ms. I am a descendant of Fannie, who married her cousin, James A Claiborne. They lived in Izard Co, Arkansas. Virginia married Archie M Speights 1 Nov 1857 in Independence Co,Ar. They lived in Georgia and Greenville, South Carolina.
I have John Claibornes Methodist Hymn book in my possession. He gave it to Fanny at some point.
I have a complete list of james and Fannie's descendants and names of 7 of Virginia and Archie's children. I am interested in James and ophelia's family as I only had a marriage date and knew he died at a young age. Karen Donner

Sorry for the confusion. Ophelia Napier Claiborne was born in 1840 in Tennessee the daughter of Madison C. and Mary Eliz. Burch Napier. She married James Claiborne in 1857 in Independence Co., Arkansas. According to letters in my possession, she had several children and James died in abt 1875. Ophelia was still alive when the auther of the letters died in 1876. My interest is mainly with James' ancestors and the descendants of Ophelia and James. Thanks for your interest.

Hi, thought I would let you know, just in case, that you didn't, that you can
go into the Magna Charta, on John West and William Claiborne.
If you go in on Claiborne, you will connect to 1 Baron, but with West you can
connect with 12 Barons.

Hi Matt,
This line of Claibornes is my line- I am descended from Anne Fox and Capt. Thomas Claiborne of "Sweet Hall."
Anne was the daughter of Henry Fox (b. circa 1650 died before 1717), Henry was a member of the House of Burgesses for King William County.
Look forwarding to hearing from you.
