Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
From another mail list, I received this site as a place to search family
histories for free:
_http://www.lib.byu.edu/fhc/_ (http://www.lib.byu.edu/fhc/)
I found a history on the Clyborne/Clyburn/Cliborne etc tht mentions Jonas
and several others who have been recently mentioned.
Search the name Claiborne. This is the one that references Jonas and even
Henrico county Claibornes and other spellings:
_Cliburne : The Story of an American Pioneer Family_
(http://contentdm.lib.byu.edu/cgi-bin/docviewer.exe?CISOROOT=/FamHist10&CI...)
These histories are readable page by page and the one above has an index. I
find it amazing to find so many with names of Claiborne that this author has
rolled into this family name.
Good luck.

Thank you, Mary Jean, for this info. I have put it in my files and
hopefully, it will help to connect us back to ? perhaps? this William
Claiborne. I have a cousin who is very interested in Claiborne info,
too, and I will send it to her. -- she is not on a computer, so I have
to send it 'snail mail'. which takes more time and if she can find a
connection in her notes, I will get back to you with it. I truly
believe that we might find info to connect - somewhere!
thanks again. Laverne

I have a copy of The Tracks in the Sea but have not read it yet. I have a copy of The Maury Family Tree but the line from Mary Ann Maury and Daniel Claiborne does not include alot of info. I am looking for all descendants from that line.
I have had no other reply yet to this posting. Mary Ann was the older sister to my 5th great-grandfather, Abraham Maury.

Have you read "Tracks in the Sea" and did you ever get a reply to your posting.
There is some information on the subject in Dorman and Smith which I'll share with you, if you don't already have it.
Fellow searcher
Heath Claiborne Boyer
Sorry if my earlier wasn't clear on this. Anne Robinson was the daughter of
Tully and Mary Robinson. Her marriage to Thos. was bonded Dec 23 1775
according to Eliz B. Wingo "Marriages of Princess Ann County, Va 1749-1821"
p.24 and the "Virginia Gazette" (Dixon) 14 January 1775.
In the Princess Ann County (Virginia Beach is in Princess Anne County) Deed
book #13 1772-73 no. 147 Will of Tully Robinson, dated 9 Feb 1773 and proved
11 March 1773 gave to his daughter Anne Robinson three slaves. The Will of
William Robinson dated June 23, 1787 and proved 13 Sept 1787 which referred
to funds paid to Thomas Claiborne as a legacy to his sister Ann. . . .
Dorman's listing of "issue" under Thos says
Issue: (By 1) {which means first wife - HB}
Anne married Francis Tarrant
Nathaniel He was an ordinary seaman in the Va Navy during the Revolutionary
War
Thomas He was an able seaman in the Virginia Navy
William
George Wythe b. 1772 married Mary King Hellen and died at sea.
From the absence of a reference to ("by 2" - second wife) I would take it
that all these names are from the first marriage. No dates are given for
their births except George who was born before Thos.' marriage to Anne.
Given that George was born before the marriage of Anne and Thos, it appears
Dorman found no children from the second marriage.
If you have further questions write to me off line. hmboyer(a)vermontel.net

According to Dorman and Smith's book on the Claibornes:
Thomas Claiborne was in the fifth generation from William Claiborne. His
father was Nathaniel. Thomas died in 1778. He married first Euphan Sweeney in
1759 and second Anne Robinson (bond 22 Dec 1775). It is somewhat confusing
as to the children. By wife # 1 he had Anne who married Francis Tarrant in
1781 in Princess Anne County. Other children listed by am not sure which
mother: Nathaniel - an ordinary seaman during the Rev. War; Thomas an able seaman
in the Virginia Navy; William-nothing further; George Wythe who married Mary
King Hellen. George was born in 1772 so all these children must have been
from the first wife.

How are you related to this tree? My son-in-law is the Grandson of Mary Frances Clyburn and Herbert Edward Jackson. I'll have to admit, Mary Frances, her father, Claude, and his father Lee, I am absolutely sure about but I'm not 100% sure about Elijah being Lee's father. I have found records and Census where sometimes Lee went by Thomas L, sometimes by T. Lee, and sometimes just by Lee. I'm just assuming that they are all one in the same. I'd be interested to see what you have on the Clyburn's. I'm also following the Jackson's (but not with much luck there either).

Heath and Mary Boyer can you assist me in researching my family? I was down in Natchez MS in late April of this year, and I found a lot of information concerning my grandfather, however, I just can't connect the dots that will give me a good since of confidence that my family is related to the Claibornes in Natchez.
Anthony Claiborne, born in Adams County, Mississippi in 1878. He married Mollie Thompson (born about 1883) in 1904 and had 4 children: Maggie, Tom, Anthony Jr. and James.
According to the 1910 census, he and his family was listed in Adams County. My aunt Maggie and father (Tom) left MS in the late 1940's but I do not have any information on Anthony Jr. or James. I know that my cousin said the Anthony Jr. died a violent death (this is what his mother, my aunt Maggie, told him). James is such a common name, but I can't seem to find him anywhere using Ancestry.com, but he was born in 1910.
After the 1910 census, I was not able to track him until he married Dora Coleman on Mar 28, 1917. After that I have his death record and it shows that he died in Washington Parish, Louisanna on Feb 22, 1937. His mothers name was Evelyn and his father's name was Clabe Claiborne.
I have not been able to find any other information about him. I really would like to know if anyone has any information about this couple (did they have any children? did Dora have any siblings? Did Mollie have any siblings?) These are questions that I cannot answer at this time.
My guess would be that Anthony and his family were originally from Louisanna.
I found a Mollie Claiborne in Louisanna who died in the Caddo Parish in Louisanna on 9/20/1933 at the Old Folks home there in Caddo.
Although her husband was listed as Allen Claiborne, it was just strange that James Claiborne was list as the next of kin because Allen Claiborne had already died.
If you think that you could assist me in connecting these dots, please email me @ dclayborn(a)comcast.net.
Thanks!
Dan
