I've been traveling and so sorry to have been out of touch with the message board. Just got back from Sweet Hall Virginia, as a matter of fact, which has been for sale for $3 million, now under contract for $1.5 million.
Typo error - George Ravenscroft of course not born 1882, but 1782. This might have been confusing. His son John Clayton Claiborne went to Izard Co. Arkansas.
Son Alexander Herbert Claiborne was executor of his will, then died 10 Oct. 1857 in Jackson County Arkansas. His will was written 4th Oct. 1857 and probated there:
" In the Name of God, amen I Alexander Claiborne of the County of Haywood and State of Tennessee being of Sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transitory life do therefore make ordain publish and declare this to be my Last Will and Testament."
He gives and bequeaths one fourth of his estate each to:
"my daughter Martha A. R. Battle"; "my daughter Elizabeth J. Claiborne"; "my Son John A. Claiborne"; "Robert A. Green in Trust for benefit of my daughter Roena A. Green"; and
"I appoint my son-in-law Frederick Battle and my brother-in-law Joseph R. Taylor to be Executors of this my Last Will and Testament." Alexander Claiborne, (seal)
Recorded Jackson Co. Arkansas 23rd Oct. 1857
Record of Wills, pages 78-79-80-81.
