Hello Archie, We are not talking about the same George Ravenscroft
Claiborne. Apparently there are two of them. My wifes George lived in
Trenton, Tenn and was married to Anna Robertson. I'll see what I can find
in Smith's genealogy "Claiborne of Virginia" but can't right now. Will
get back to you.
Dick
Hi Phyllis, The Claibornes are my wife's family. Apparently your husband
and my wife Joy are cousins, about 4th cousins if we are talking about
the Same George R. George Ravenscroft Claiborne lived in Trenton, Tenn.
He was a son Of Thomas B. Claiborne ( a senator from Tenn), the son of
Burnell Claiborne. You can find this in my submission to ancestry.com.
One of the wives back there in the mid/late 1700's was a Ravenscroft.
I'm going from memory and I'm afraid I don't recall who I was trying to
help with the Who's this Leonard query, and that's embarrassing. Been
working too many lines at once. My wife's great grandfather was James H.
Claiborne, son of George R.
Thanks for the reply, Dick

Her son, Robt McDowell McCown is my husbands G-Grandfather and her maiden name is all we hagve to go by. Any help truly appreciated. Please e-mail me at aaholston(a)hotmail.com
