Hi Clayburn and variant Listers,
Can anyone assist with the following:
Hamilton CLAYBOURNE, age 15, arrived in Canada on board the
ss."Parisian" in the year 1882.
That would make his DOB c.1867.
Can anyone advise me if Hamilton came from Europe or the USA?
Was the ss."Parisian" a N.American coastal vessel?
Thanks for any assistance.
Rod Clayburn.

WILLIAM CLAIBORNE
1775–1817, governor of Louisiana, b. Sussex co., Va. He began law practice in
Sullivan co., Tenn., and was appointed a judge of the state supreme court in
1796. As a Congressman (1797–1801) he supported Jefferson, and in 1801 the
President made him governor of Mississippi Territory. In 1803, Claiborne was
one of the commissioners appointed to receive Louisiana from France after the
Louisiana Purchase, and he was governor (1804–12) of the newly organized
Territory of Orleans. American government was not well received by the
Creoles, and Claiborne had many quarrels with legislators and others. He was
also criticized for his apparent approval of the questionable activities of
Gen. James Wilkinson. However, when the Territory of Orleans was admitted to
the Union in 1812 as the state of Louisiana, Claiborne was elected governor
and served until 1816. In 1817 he was elected to the U.S. Senate but died
before he could take his seat. 1

Looking for information on my grandfather Ferdinand (Ferd) WHITE, born LA
around 1875. Married Hannah (Anna-Bona) WALKER 1891 in Ms, and moved to New
Orleans around 1903. I have been searching for the names of his parents.
Family lore states he was a descendant of William C. C. Claiborne.

Hi List here is my problem child.
Richard Claiborne's father is reportedly William Claiborne however some people are beginning to believe that William died in England before 1750 if this is true then I have a big problem
Some say his father was Augustine Claiborne.
The books that I have seen say William, my question does anyone out there have any proof the William is father of Richard Claiborne.
Richard Claiborne B. 1755 Va., married #2 Catherine Thompson Ross issue
Guilford Green Claiborne B. 1812 New Orleans, D. 1889 Pa M. Catherine Kidwell Currie.
Any ideas, thought, help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Charlotte
Hi,
I'm fairly new to this list and I'm researching the 2 Claiborne fellows who married my Cook ladies.
I have Richard Henry Claiborne, b.?, d. 1821 who married Mary Cook, b. abt 1776, d. 1798 in Halifax Co., VA ... need ancestry for them and their descendants, too.
I also have Robert Claiborne, (no dates) who married Sally Cook, b. abt 1777 and d. before 12/1803 in VA? ... need ancestry for them and their descendants, too.
The father of these two Cook gals was John Cook b. abt 1739 in Chesterfield Co., VA and d. 1795 in Halifax Co., VA.
I'll take all the help I can get on these folks, and thanks in advance!
Be well & God bless,
Kate Beaugrand Cook
