Hello all,
In lieu of an actual Project, here's a freebie for you!
(Let's also post to the list the main surnames we research.)
Several times a year, Ancestry.com opens their subscription-only databases to
everyone for two weeks of free use. I realize this is a very busy time for
all of us, but the new online census images will make it well worth your time
to take advantage of this opportunity.
Their message:
Ancestry.com is offering free access to all of its databases through December
21.
Included in the offer is access to the images of original census records that
Ancestry.com recently began posting. These images represent a more
true-to-life depiction of the records and are in most cases better than the
original in readability.
Ancestry.com's Images Online are scanned in 256 shades of gray to allow for
variations in tone. The entire set of U.S. Federal Censuses is expected to be
online by spring 2001.
Ancestry.com has been adding databases and is on target to have more than 1
BILLION records online by the end of the year.
Sign up for free access today at:
http://www.ancestry.com/home/celebrate/freeaccess.htm?sourcecode=674
----------------------------------------
The sign-up form calls for your first and last name, phone number
(placeholders work nicely), and a username and password.
Good luck in your research!

Hi Ron,
Just received the following message that may be of interest to you.
Quote
I have looked in 'The Genealogists Guide' and 'A Genealogical Guide'.
Probably you have these references.
CLIBBORN Burke's Landed Gentry 2nd ed and 6th ed Supplement.
I have a copy of the 2nd ed and this refers to a family of Moate Castle,
County Westmeath, Ireland. It is headed by a John Clibborn, great-grand
father of someone born in 1803.
The second book groups various spelling variants, including De Cliburne,
and gives as references.
Cumberland and Westmoreland Arch Society, New Series vols: xii, 393
and
xxviii 192, 271
Burkes Landed Gentry of Ireland
Pratt of Gawsworth by J Pratt 1925 (seemingly a family history)
Also CLEBURNE in Hunter's Pedigrees Harlean Soc. vol. lxxxviii page 39
Unquote
Have to access to any of these references?
Best regards, Rod.

Yes, I am an 8th great-grandson of William Claiborne and Elizabeth (Butler)
Boteler and the 4th great grandson of Sarah James (daughter of John James
of Hamilton Parish, Fauquier Co., Virginia and Dinah ?) and Peter Hitt, II
(son of Peter Hitt of Germanna).
If this information is helpful, I have it on Family Tree Maker, version 7.5.
Thanks,

Hello Georgia and other List members,
First let me introduce myself,
I am Ron Clibborn-Dyer and I am researching my ancestry
on both the Clibborn side and the Dyer side.
I have managed to trace my grandmother Ann Murray Clibborn
as being born to James Clibborn of Moate, Westmeath, Ireland.
It would seem that one of her brothers married Catherine Booth,
daughter of the founder of the Salvation Army General William Booth.
Has anyone done any research on James Clibborn of Moate Castle,
County Westmeath, Ireland?
There seem to be so many Clibborns from Moate, Westmeath, that I am
finding it difficult to sort them all out, and discover to which I
am related.
I have birth details for Anne Murray Clibborn 1861-06-09 and one sister,
and a family tree of the Booth Clibborns from the Salvation Army
Archivist.
I have no idea where the Murray comes from in my gramdmother's name.
Would be happy to share what little I have with any interested List
members.
I have a jpg line drawing of the James Clibborn Coat-of-Arms if anyone
knows where to begin researching from that angle.
Page 72 of Lodge's Peerage is reported to say something on James Clibborn
of Moate, but I do not have access to it. Has anyone got a copy, or access
through their local reference library.
Best wishes, Ron in Hong Kong, China
