Hi Barbara, when I lived in Virginia I researched the Cliburn, Claiborn/e and all the other spellings and there was a Thomas Cliburn that would change the spelling when ever he felt like it and there was allot of research done on him by the Historical Society in the Chesapeake, VA. area. This is the library in VA. that is on line at...

Good luck in your hunting.. My CLIBURNS come from Westmoreland, England to Wales to the United States.

Does anyone know of any connection between the name CLIBORN and CLAIBORN? In many cases the letters "ai" are pronounced "i" in British dialect.
