I'm searching for relatives of Mary Stewart Claflin, who married my cousin
Col. Sir Arthur Evans, and therefore became Lady Mary Stewart Evans.
Mary Stewart's forebear, then named Robert Maclachlan, arrived in Mass.
Colony c.1660, after he had been taken at the Battle of Dunbar, Scotland in
1650 during the English Civil War.
He was given his freedom, and changed his name to CLAFLIN. His descendants
seemed to have remained in Mass. until the end of 18th. Cent, when Mary
Stewart's line appeared to move to New York, before settling in Morristown,
NJ.
Mary Stewart lived in England until she returned to the USA at the end of the
1950s, when she was either divorced and/or Sir Arthur died.
Mary Stewart returned with a Pedigree, commissioned by Sir Arthur, containing
mainly SHARDELOW, and maybe EVANS names (the earliest Shardelow is believed
to be in the 14th. Century).
Can anyone help me to locate this Pedigree?
David Langdon, England. (darulan(a)aol.com)
