Hi Richie,
I am a descendent of Edward & Catherine's fifth child Catherine (1863-1945).
Sandra Cooper (who contributes to this list) kindly confirmed the
following details for me from the Multyfarnham parish records in the
National Library, Dublin in July 2004:
Catherine and Edward were married on 25th April 1855.
There were no other details on the marriage entry as to their parents' names or abodes.
Baptisms:
All born to Edward and Catherine (Sheil) Claffey:
Michael 3rd August 1856
John 17th September 1858
Anne 1st March 1861
Catherine 25th March 1863
Patrick 21st October 1865
Mary 4th July 1868
The above dates are christening dates with their births probably 1 or 2 days before.
Unfortunately, Sandra was unable to find any record of their first child, Bridget's christening.
Catherine emigrated (without Edward) to Queensland with her seven children on 10 Feb 1875. However, both Sandra nor I have had any luck in finding a record of Edward's death in Ireland.
I have a lot more detail of their Australian descendents and would welcome any information you would like to share.
Please contact me directly, so as not to bore the rest of the listers!
I just responded to the list on this occasion so the above details could be recorded in the archives.
Look forward to hearing from you.
