Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
A man is looking for his birth family. He was born 27 July 1938 and birth name was John William Claffey. He was born at the Catholic Hospital in Boston, MA. He was adopted and uses a different name.
He has tried unsuccessfully to get more info. MA adoption privacy laws are very restrictive. His birth mother is no doubt dead now. If anyone can help or offer suggestions to him, please let me know.
While most of us are seeking ancestors many generations back, this man would just like to know who his mother was.
Friends,
Ann and Jim Claffee have contributed another batch of Claffey Information and we have added Ireland to our list of pages in the section "LOCATING YOUR CLAFFEY ANCESTORS"

2 points to tell you about.....
1. Very glad that you two found each other and are probably related. That
is the main reason that this list
was formed.
2. Both of your messages are now included in Rootsweb archives.
The archives will go on indefinitely where as the Claffey Home Page
which is my hobby will slowly fade
when I am no longer able to maintain it. Just past my 75th birthday
but am fit as a fiddle and plan to be
around for several more years.
To all others on the CLAFFEY-List, I encourage you to write your
Genealogical information into messages like this one. Obits, Marriage
records, Military information as well as birth and death info. the ARCHIVES
will retain the information and ....
The Archives are fully searchable ! ! !
URL Is http://archiver.rootsweb.com/
When you get there it asks you the name of the list you want to review (In
this Case---Claffey) .
or you can click on a letter of the alphabet
You are then taken to the list of Claffey messages for each month, going
back all the way to June 1999 at the beginning.
I just tried it and it told me there were 3 messages for the month of March.
2 from Liz Claffey and 1 from
Ray FitzGerald.

Lizz,
You have beginners luck! Quick, play the lottery!
My paternal grandmother, Mary Agnes CHERRY, had a sister, (Bridget) Delia
CHERRY (my grand aunt). Delia married John Kirby around 1911 and had two
children, John and Mary. Mary was born March 24, 1912, and married a Don or
Dan
Claffey. I was told they had around four children (boys) and around 1963
were
living in Neptune City, NJ. Your father would be my second cousin.
I have a ton of information on the Cherry side. Contact me directly at my
e-mail address below and I'll fill you in with what I know.
Welcome to the clan!

Hiyas :)
My name is Lizz (Elizabeth) Claffey and I am new to geneaology but figured
that this would be a safe bet to begin :)
A little background on me and my family:
Most of us are in the NY/NJ area. I do have some information but not in
front of me....I will send once I get organized :) My parents are Joseph P.
,
born in NY, raised in Hell's Kitchen then moved to NJ, and Patricia J.
Laytham
born in NJ. My father has 3 brothers, Daniel, James and John (deceased).
My
grandparents were Daniel P. and Mary Kirby, both born in NY, I believe. I
knew
my grandfather had 1 brother, John, and 1 sister, Elizabeth, but I don't
know
of any other siblings. John last resided in Greenwood Lake, Upstate NY and
was married to Catherine (Kate). They have 3 children Catherine (pidgie),
Karen
and John.
This is all that I have stored in my head so if you would like more info
just
let me know and I will look for my notes.
Just want to say I look forward to seeing what other Claffeys the world
holds
:) Peace..........Lizz
