Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Let me see if I follow you correctly:

Maybelle Claffey b. 28 Oct 1913
Lagora b. 1899 (My correspondence spells it Ligary)
I have had correspondence from two people working on this line. Ken Claffey
and the daughter of Maybelle Claffey. Are you in touch with either of
these?
Have you written to the St. Lawrence County Clerk to see if James filed a
Declaration of Intent to become a citizen? This is followed up by Final
Citizenship Papers after a waiting period. Sometimes these papers give the
name of the town where James was born. Also, these papers give the date of
arrival in the USA. When you have the date, I can help you find the ship he
arrived on. Claffeys are predominantly in County Offaly (used to be called
Kings County), Co. Westmeath, or Co. Longford, in the area of these three
counties near Athlone. Also, the death certificate of their son John will
show the birthplace of his father and mother (it may just say Ireland or it
may give the town in Ireland), and his mother's maiden name. 1816 is a very
hard period to research in Ireland and since so many were named James and
Bridget, you must have her maiden name to get anywhere. Most Catholic
Church records (available from the LDS library) list the mother's maiden
name when a child is baptised.
Hope this gives you some ideas for research.

g-grandfather was Clarence born Aug 1880 married Nina Peck. Amoug Clarence's

Ken: Georgina Claffey of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada sent the following
info in June of 1998 to the Claffey Connections site (which is no longer
active):
"Nellie Claffey, the daughter of John Claffey and Nellie Caroline Narveson,
passed along some family history that was published in a history book put
out by the Community of Hardy on the early settlers of Hardy, Sakatchewan.
"John Claffey was born on Easter Sunday, March 28th, 1869 in Schendaken, New
York. At the death of his father, he is a very young boy with his mother,
one sister Mary, and two brothers, Jim and Joe, and they move to Hawley,
Minnesota where they lived for awhile with the grandparents Murphy".
"The story goes on to tell that John was educated in Hawley and married
Nellie Narveson in 1892. He came to Saskatchewan in 1905 where he worked as
a blacksmith in Yellow Grass. In 1912 he took a homestead in the Hardy
district. 14 children were born-8 in Minnesota (7surviving) and 6 in
Sakatchewan. Of these, 9 are still living with upwards of 200 descendants,
mostly in Western Canada."

Hi everyone,
My name is Ken Claffey and I am interested in tracking my family tree.
My great grandfather Michael and his wife Catherine (Murphy) moved to the
U.S. in the mid 1800's. They came with one child and had one on the ship.
These two were Jim and Mary. I do not know which was born on the ship. They
had two more children in the U.S. John (my grandfather) and Joseph. My
grandfather was born in 1869. They lived in Pennsylvania and my great
grandfather worked in the coal mines. My grandfather moved to Hawley
Minnesota and married Nellie Narveson in 1892. They then moved to
Saskatchewan, Canada in 1905 when my Dad was 2 months old. If anyone out
there has information about this family please contact me at
