> Allentown, PA., December 25, 1903
> Coroner SCHEIRER and Chief of Police EASTMAN are investigating the case of
> Mrs. Agnes Minerva LEIBY, who died Thursday at the home of William CLADER of
> this city under what seemed to them suspicious circumstances. In connection
> with the case, the Coroner requested that the police hold William KUNKLE, an
> ex-policeman, until an inquest is held. Another arrest may follow.
>
> The woman's body was removed from the Clader house last night and taken to
> the home of her stepfather at Bethlehem. It is said her face was more or
> less bruised. KUNKLE was arrested because he was said to have been with her
> when she died.
>
> Inquiry at the CLADER house brought out the information that the woman died
> from natural causes, due to eating three dozen spiced Christmas cakes. It
> was also stated that she was attended by two physicians. Mrs. CLADER said
> that KUNKLE merely assisted her in administering medicine to her and also
> said that the bruises were due to Mrs. LEIBY falling against a bed while
> weak from her illness.
