Hi Norma,
sorry, I missed the fact that it was actually you who posted. All I saw was Vanette, so I addressed it to her.
As already written in the answer to Vanette, I wonder where John G. got the "Geesline" from. So far I could not find any Geeslin(e) in the ancestry of his parents.
Peter

Hi Vanette,
thank you for the confirmation. I still wonder where his name "Geesline" came from. After digging around some more in this line I found no ancester of his with this name. Do you have any idea from which side he could have gotten this name?
Peter

Hi, Peter,
It looks like Vanette was on target with the census information she sent to you yesterday (thanks, Vanette!).
By the way - in this message subject line, my grandmother's name should read Edith GORDON Clack. "Butler" was Edith's mother's maiden name (Elma Butler Gordon).
Feel free to contact me :)
Norma G. Clack (grandaughter of Robert and Edith Clack)

1880 Federal Census, Davis Township, Caldwell County, Missouri, ED 188, 5 June, page 9A;
Gordon, Thos. J W M 45
------ , Eliza W F 45 Wife
------ , Major B W M 20 Son
------ , Rosencrans W M 17 Son
------ , Rufus W W M 12 Son
------ , Florence E W F 3 Daughter
------ , John G W M 1 Son
Sure looks like your John G. to me.
Vanette

Hi Norma,
my name is Peter Biesinger. My wife's great grandfather's name was John Geesline Gordon, who was born 1878 in Missouri, according to the 1920 census. I wonder if his father also was Thomas Jefferson Gordon. Does this name appear anywhere in your files?
Peter
