Thanks for your help Geoff. My own family tree programme has gone awol and I am a bit stuck, so can't look anything up right now. Do you know of the Clack families in Chiswick, Ealing, Acton ie 1901? esp. John (32) and Harriet (34) living at 14, Surrey Rd Chiswick? They had 3 young children 5, 2 and 10/12mths. They seem a bit 'old' ie did they have previous marriages and/or older children? Would you know Harriets maiden name? Best wishes Joyce

Forgive me but some mail seems to have bounced, my ISP has been updating equipment, so I've missed recent messages.
Here are the basics of my Family Tree:
Edward and Sarah CLACK of Broadwell (Oxfordshire) were the parents of Edward.
Edward CLACK married Frances TURNER at Langford (Oxfordshire) 10 Oct 1798.
David CLACK and Jane DEWE married (at Bampton, Oxfordshire) 17 Jan 1843.
David CLACK,baptised 14 May 1843, married Eliza CRIPPS nee BOWLES 23 Nov 1865.
Fred W CLACK (my Grandfather) born 9 Mar 1887 at Bampton
Fred W (living at 197 Kensal Road, Kensington, Gt London) married Fanny Ellen FILBEY.
Fred William Alfred (my Father) born 10 March 1905, had 11 sisters.
Fred W A CLACK married Vera Mercy Ellen KNIGHT 23 July 1933
Frederick John CLACK born 4 August 1934
Geoffrey Francis CLACK (me) born 30 March 1938
Malcolm Dennis CLACK born 10 September 1943
My mother told me that three Clack brothers, including my Grandfather, had moved from Bampton to find work in London. I have no record regarding the other two names.
David Clack, living in Bampton, was listed with his family in the 1871 census as follows:
David Clack 54 Born Bampton Agricultural Labourer
Eliza 33 Dressmaker
Fanny 6 Scholar
Fred W 4 Scholar
I'd love to know who the other brothers were.

Hi Muriel I would like to say I can help you with your enquiry re Clacks , but I am as stumped as you. My own problem re. Clacks --- I have greatgrandparents (according to 1891 census) as John Clackb1868 + wife Harriet b1869 + dau Sissie or Jessie b1889--living in Christchurch Buildings, Lisson St. Marylebone. Also in same building were James Clacke b1872 + wife Emma b. b1873 + son James 3/12old Were these perhaps brothers or cousins? They were both slaters. Also in same building was Charlotte Beadle age 71 + grandson John Clack age 6. I cannot find John and Harriet s marriage or birth certs. and cannot relate them to the other Clacks in Marylebone, or Middx. Do you know of the family connection, or where John Snr. may have been born? Grateful for any help Joyce Carter
Hi:
If you are not a member of the New England Hist. & Gen. Society - you
might be interested in this message about free access
to their online database of the NE Register. The rest of the online
databases are evidently not free - just the Register newsletter but it has
great articles about the early ancestral lines.
The NE Register database will be free Nov. 25 through Nov 28 at:

A Feast of Ancestors! Enjoy Free Access to the Register Online Over
Thanksgiving Weekend!
NEHGS is pleased to offer free access to its New England Historical and
Genealogical Register database on NewEnglandAncestors.org over the
Thanksgiving holiday weekend! Normally only available to NEHGS members, the
Register database will be accessible to everyone from Thursday, November 25
through Sunday, November 28, 2004. We encourage all NEHGS members to spread
the word about this offering, and we hope that those of you who are not
members find a veritable feast of ancestors in the Register database!
Published quarterly since 1847, The New England Historical and Genealogical
Register is the flagship journal of American genealogy and the oldest
journal in the field. The online database includes issues from 1847 to
1994.
The Register has featured articles on a wide variety of topics since its
inception, including vital records, church records, tax records, land and
probate records, cemetery transcriptions, obituaries, and historical
essays. Authoritative compiled genealogies have been the centerpiece of the
Register for more than 150 years. Thousands of New England families have
been treated in the pages of the journal and many more are referenced in
incidental ways throughout. The articles in the Register range from short
pieces correcting errors in print or solving unusual problems to larger
treatments that reveal family origins or present multiple generations of a
family.
Look for details on how to obtain free access to the Register in a special
eNews bulletin to be sent out Wednesday, November 24. A link will also be
available on that date on the home page of our website,
www.NewEnglandAncestors.org.
