Hovie, thank you for your interest and your reply. I know almost nothing
about John Thomas Clack, and only learned his given name recently. One
record, made by another family, states that he died in Arkansas, near
Arkadelphia. They did not document it, though, and I know some of their
info is mistaken. But I do believe he was born in Red Bay, Al. I don't
know the name of the county that would be in. I am not experienced at
research, and am not skilled at finding info. But Nancy Carr, whom he
married, is buried in Garland Co. But I will keep trying, and please let me
know if you find out anything more. Marty

Thank you for your reply. Could this John Thomas Clack have remarried and moved to Arkansas? His wife here , Nancy, was born in 1836 and died in 1930. She is buried here; he is not, but may be buried in a nearby town in Arkansas. They had several children that I know of: Sarah, Catherine Rebecca, and Naomi are the names I have of their children. Sarah and Naomi both married a G. Rainwater; Sarah died at age 20, and Naomi raised Sarah's one child. Naomi and Catherine Rebecca both lived and died in Arkansas, at least after they married, they did. I know so little. Marty

Naomi Clack who married Rainwater was my Grandmother's sister. They both ended up living and dying in Arkansas, Garland Co. I am trying to find out something about their father, John Thomas Clack, who married Nancy Carr. Nancy is buried in Garland Co. but John Thomas Clack is not. One source states that he may be buried in or near Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Naomi is buried in Garland Co, as well. I might be able to give you a little info on Naomi, but not a lot, except on the Rainwater family she married into. G. Rainwater previously married Naomi's sister, Sarah, who died at age 20, leaving behind one child, who was raised by Naomi.

I need to research this John Thomas Clack, he may be part of Moses Clack family that lived in Alabama, or he made be an entirely different family. Moses had a son, Philip Deadman Clack that lived in Blount County, Alabama and also other locations in Alabama. At anyrate, the John Thomas Clack that married Haidy Houpaugh (Hoopa) was the brother of my Great, Great Grandfather. He seems to be buried at Harmony Grove Methodist Church, at Auburn, Georgia. I'm not sure if he ever left that area.

This John Thomas Clack was married to Nancy Carr. He could have had previous marriages, tho. Nancy lived from 1836 to 1930. He is not buried with her, but one source stated he died in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. I have not been able to find his birth or death dates so far. Their child, Sarah, died in 1895, at about 20 years of age. The dates make it seem like a possibility, anyway. And Alabama could be incorrect, I'm just not sure. I will keep looking and hoping. Thanks for replying. I wish I knew more!

My great grandfather was John Thomas Clack. He was, I believe, born in Red Bay, Alabama. I don't know his birth date, but he married Nancy Carr, who was born also in Red Bay, Alabama. Nancy was born 4/3/1834 and died in Hot Springs, Arkansas on 12/24/1930. They had two daughters, Naomi Roxanna b. 3/30/1878 d. 4/28/1962. and Rebecca Catherine b.8/25/1873 d.3/23/1954. Both died in Hot Springs. I believe there was a third daughter, named Sarah, who died at 20 years of age. Sarah and Naomi both married Warren Grandison Rainwaters, Naomi being the 2nd wife. Rebecca was my grandmother; she married Franklin Sherrill.
