Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Hi:
I believe that our mail lists are for family research only. I mistakenly
included the Clack-L address in a Habitat For Humanity message that I sent
to my private e-mail acquaintances. I apologize.

Hi:
Am forwarding this from a very hard-working research volunteer on the
Norcal (No. Calif) mail list. Just for visiting the site - they'll donate
to Habitat for Humanity. And, of course, they hope you'll take a good look
at their site while you're there. Just click on the can - it will get
bigger and you can drop in the dollar that is sitting on the side.

As most of you know, Homestead.com has a mission of helping people
create their own space on the Web -- a virtual home, if you will.
For the holidays this year, we're broadening out to help provide
real homes for those who don't have them, through a partnership
with Habitat for Humanity called Homestead for the Holidays. You
can help us help those who aren't lucky enough to have a real home.
All you need to do is visit the following Web site:
http://for_the_holidays.homestead.com/
For each person who visits and drops a virtual dollar in the can, we
will
donate a real dollar to Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit organization
dedicated to constructing homes for those in need. It only takes a few
seconds, but it's an important way you can help. To do even more, feel
free to forward this message to your friends and family.
We'd like to extend our warmest thanks to you for your continued
support,
and we hope you continue to enjoy building your own Web site at
Homestead.
Best wishes for a happy holiday season!
>From everyone at Homestead
P.S. You can visit any time before January 15th, 2000

Hi Brenda,
The list admin for Napier appears to be persona136(a)aol.com is this an
alternate email address for you?
I've changed the CLACK list admin address over to a RootsWeb Staff member.
I hope this helps,
Vicki Lindsay

Okay Guys:
We need someone on this list to volunteer to become the new list
owner. It is not hard, there is nothing to it. It's just mainly
helping people subscribe and unsubscribe. Please contact me. There is
no money involved in this either way just a small amount of your time.
It's a small one -- a god one to start out with. Hardly no activity.
You can take your time to becoming adjusted to you. Let's not let it
die.

Clack List Owner
I have decided to start the new year out on a different foot. I'm
resigning as the list owner of all my lists. I have to admit I'm into a
new hobby now and that's quilting. I plan on continuing my genealogy
research but to be perfectly honest with you, I do not have time to
donate to it right now and I don't want you slighted because of that. I
originated these lists when I found there wasn't any. I've only
continued this because I wanted you to be able to continue your
research. It's really a thankless job. You're not paid for anything,
you make no money, you just monitor the list, but it's rewarding knowing
that you're helping other people in their research doing this. Please
e-mail by the end of the day and I will carry you through what to do to
become the new List Owner. I'm sorry to say, if someone doesn't come
forward, the list will cease to exist.

Napier Petty and Clack List Owner
"I know this subject is taboo on this list but after
having my mail returned trying to locate the list
owner I feel I need to say this so all will know.
I entered this list to help others with Petty
connections. I have helped some and some I was unable
too. Apparently one I could not help either was mad or
just very hateful because he sent me a Happy99.exe
worm/virus! I was lucky in that I have yahoo mail and
it does not download to my hard drive.
I have this persons email address and I must say that
is a pretty low thing to do to anyone but especially
to someone trying to HELP others in their search.
Please everyone on this list....DO NOT OPEN or
DOWNLOAD anything with this worm/virus. If the LIST
OWNER reads this....please contact me and I will give
you this persons name and email address. I deleted
this email as I do not want to be infected by it or it
be sent to others.
So please be careful....!
Anita"
People we have a big problem. A couple of people have subscribed to
this list and are sending a very bad virus. This is no a hoax. This
comes as an attachment and it's called Happy99.exe. I will get more
information on this later tonight. I'm notifying Rootsweb and I will
also be alerting you to the names and their addresses. In the meantime
- do not download ANYTHING that comes as an attachment to an e-mail. I
don't know too much about this virus -- it was just sent to me tonight
and thanks to the message above, I recognized it. The person subscribed
to the list tonight and immediately sent it to me and there's a chance
she has sent it to others: This is evidently a very sick and disturbed
individual. This is her address: Joan Duncan <lduncan1(a)elp.rr.com>
Please watch out for this virus as I believe it will automatically go to
everyone in your address book. I'm working with Rootsweb to see how we
can file charges against this person. Please pay very close attention
to this. In the meantime in order to protect my list further, if anyone
of this list knows anything about this virus, please e-mail me. Thanks
Brenda Duncan
