Can you give more information on your John Claassen??
My Grandmother was, Reenstine Etta Johanna Claassen she was baptized in the church ( I think it was the Reformed Church in Gross Midlum, Germany in 1868. Her parents were Heyo Janssen Claassen (born 1840 Bedecaspel, Germany died 1904 in or near Gross Midlum, Germany) and Sarah Cornelia Harrenstien (born 1842 in Germany or Holland, died 1916 in Pomeroy, Iowa).
Heyo had a brother John ( born between 1835 and 1860), who came to the USA (either Iowa or Missouri) before 1891 and was married twice, I have his wives listed as Louise and Roelpke. His children may have been Eielt, Reenste, Ludwig and Hilk.
I also have a John Claassen(born between 1880 and 1886 in Iowa) living with my Grandparents (Reenstine (Claassen) and Henricus Krull) in Clark County, South Dakota in 1900. He was also living near them in Pleasant Valley Township, Hughes County, South Dakota in 1920, his wife was Lena (born about 1889 in Iowa) and a son Luverne J. (born about 1919 in Iowa).
In 1930 he and Lena are in Valley Township, Hughes County, SD with 3 children, Lawrence(I think)(born 1919 in Iowa), Loraine (born about 1912 in Iowa) and Johnis(born about 1927 in South Dakota).
My Aunt said this last John was a cousin of my grandmother, I am not sure just where he fits in.
Heyo's parents were Eielt Emme J Classen and Reenste Lammen Janssen Claassen I have no birth or death dates for them, though I am sure they were born in either the extreme northwestern part of Germay or in Holland, and may have died there or may have came to USA.
Other syblings of Heyo could be--
Claas Claassen died probable in Germany
Ellje Etta Claassen died probably in Germany married a ??? Wilms
Elska Claassen married Harm Finkenburg
Luppe Claassen born about 1842 Germany
Emme J Claassen born 15 Oct 1849 died 11 Jan 1926 South Dakota
Jantje Claassen born 10 Apr 1853 died 1913 ?Germany married Edo Finkenburg
Any help on the above people would sure be appreciated.
