I am glad you made this connection! There is so much information available when we put our heads together on what we know or have concerning our families! Looking forward to working on our Smith/Tewell family line, cousin! I've included a photo of Perlina Anna Smith for you, if you don't already have one.

Hi Sandra,
You can often find encrypted email addresses by clicking on "view posts" ...if the poster has registerd and included his/her email address. I notice that you have not registered your email address. It is safe to do it as the encryption keeps spammers from 'mining' them ..they would have to go to every single poster and physically copy letter for letter an address ...so if you add yours, other researchers will be able to email you. I've been researching online for 10 years ...and had no problems.
I think I can put you in touch with Lucy Gordon ..we haven't communicated in awhile, so if her address is still good I'll share it with you.
And actually I can email I think the same documents that Lucy sent me as copies in the mail. If you will email me directly at audstan(a)chartertn.net I will help you.
I went to Lawrence County AR, Walnut Ridge to the Court House and made digital photos of the old court records ...a great way to make copies these days. The courthouses are often unable or unwilling to take apart the old books for ordinary photocopying ...so digital photos are the only practical way to get a copy of the record.
Audrey in TN

Lucy Gordon and I have to related, my grandpa was one of Smith (Tewell) sons, born after the trial and name change in 1883. I would very much like to reach Lucy to compare notes, and get copies of the documents she sent you. My grandpa's name was Judah Grover, and unfortunately I can only remember names of two of his six brothers, Norris and Thurman were the only ones I ever met and the only ones I remember. i am very new to this and have no idea how contact is made off line.

Thanks for the lead. Does anyone have documentation or census records or know a date of birth? I am also trying to find out the date of death for Silas. I called St Jerome's in Fancy Farm, KY and they do not have one. His wife, though, died in 1905 and is burried there.
I think I am going to take my family down to Fancy Farm the first weekend in August for the big picnic. I will try and look up some info that week. Does anyone have any tips for researching Cissells in Fancy Farm?
Finally, I made an appeal on another message board, but what happened to the Cissell line for the 1880 censu? I've been browsing census records, and Silas, MArtha Jane, Joe Ben, John Ignatius, James Thomas, etc all seem to disappear from 1870 until 1900. Does anyone have any records from this time period on the aforementioned Cissells?
Thanks again to everyone for their help. I love discovering new cousins and learning about my heritage. Thank you again.
Greg

Hi Greg,
I am not sure about this but it was sent to me by LF Halter. Silas' father may have been William Cissell b. in Washington Co. Kentucky and married to Elizabeth, b. in Perry Co. Indiana.

I am traveling to Fancy Farm and heard that Silas' wife, Martha Jane Mayes was burried there. Any idea if this is true? Is Silas burried there, as well?
Has anyone checked the burial records for parentage information? I don't want to reinvent the wheel, so if someone's already checked this out, I will try something different.
Thank You.
Gregory Cissell
