Mel, I am interested in your post because it appears to be some of the same people I am researching for a friend.
In the 1860 Perry Twp., Martin County, Indiana census "Dorotha" Cissall is living with three of her children along with Mary A Ash and three of her children. Mary Ann Cissell married James Ash in Martin County, Indiana in December 1842. James was reportedly killed by lightening around 1858. I believe that Mary A Cissell Ash who was born about 1825 is the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth H Raney Cissell.
I am wondering what the relationship is between Dorothy and Mary Ann Ash. Is the connection between Thomas and Ignatius Cissell? Do you know what the relationship was between the two of them?
Thanks in advance for your help.
