I have some papers of my grandpa's including the homestead ones. Give me a call and I'll copy them for you. Also have some newspaper articles from Jackie and other papers I received years ago. I have access to a scanner.

Hi,
You would think that if they ended up in Winona they would be related. My dad said the two family are not related. The last name is not very common. You might be able to find some information in gencom. A cousin said they came to PA then to MN. If you haven't already looked the University of Winona has scan all the old newspaper. Its available on line. Many articles on your relatives.

I am descended from the other Cichosz family, the majority stayed in the Winona/Trempealeau area. Michael, John William, to Bernard, Maryanna (Czarnowski) and Dominic.
I have added the Anton, Albert, Frank, and Stanislaus lines but am sure with the volume of researchers on your Cichosz line that I do not have this line up to its current level of research.
Could I get a Gedcom of the current Anton Cichosz line from someone?
I certainly would share the Michael line if asked.
At some point in the future (hopefully) we will find the common ancestor between these lines
thanks.

Hi Chris,
Clarification here- There are three Mary's and a Jerry that communicate here. Mary Wallace, Mary Cox and Mary Agbayani. I saw a post earlier addressed to Mary and thought it was for me so I replied to it. Then I saw you were actually responding to Mary W. We are all Cichosz family members. My Parents are David and Maureen Holden. David is the son of Cecelia Cichosz and Raymond Holden. My dad and Al Cichosz were quite close as children. Then the family was moved to Calif. I live in Hawaii. I have 9 children and 9 grandchildren. Hope to hear from you......

Good morning Chris. Yes I know our dads are cousins and so are we! I have been in touch with Mary W and Mary C. We have all been in touch with a new cousin from Minnesota whose name is Jerry. He is related through the Cichosz/Olszewski families. I currently live in Hawaii. I have been here for about 8 years. I have been doing genealogy for many years. I have just recently been actively researching the Cichosz family. On my Grandfather Raymond Holden's side I have traced back to the year 1191. It has been rather difficult to trace the Cichosz side since they are newer to the USA than the Holden family. I have been able to learn quite a lot about the Cichosz family through Mary W. and Mary C. I have told them I am quite envious of all of those who were born and raised out in Montana. You all have had such a wonderful opportunity to have lived within close proximity of one another and you all had cousins, aunts and uncles to share a life and memories with. My side of the family !
never had that opportunity having been raised in Calif away from the great history and stories of the elders of the family. The email address I use for communicating with the Cichosz cousins is hwnhaole(a)yahoo.com. You can use this one to write to me. Our cousin Jerry from Minn., I am sure, would love to hear from you. Nice to meet you. I know the names of your parents through stories my dad would tell about his youth. It is quite nice to have contact with relatives of those names, it now makes those old stories come to life all over again for me. A wonderful memory of my father. My dad often spoke of Al Olszewski. My mom said Al was more like a brother to my dad. Good to hear from you and I look forward to getting to know you more. Do you live in Montana?

Hi,
Sorry I never responded once we receive the naturalization papers on Albert Cichosz son of Anton Cichosz. Since the paper where from 1896 it show Empire of Germany was his original birth place. Which has always been said he was born in Prussia,Poland. We don't have any information on Anton siblings. I haven't been able to find where they arrive in America. I just know it was 1874.
Mary

Message Board Post:
Hello relatives. I am excited to see this discussion going on. My name is Chris Olszewski, great-grandson of Albert Cichosz. I live in Great Falls, MT. I visited Winona, MN last summer and visited Fr. Paul Bresna at the Polish Cultural Institute to find information about the Olszewski family. In doing so, I discovered some things about the Cichosz family.
My grandmother Florence(Cichosz)Olszewski married John Valentine Olszewski. She was one of the 10 children of Albert & Bertha(Eichendorf)Cichosz.
I am interested in knowing what you have found out about the naturalization papers. My grandmother lived to be 96 (It seems to run in the family), and she left some notes and letters regarding family history that she corresponded with Fr. Bresna on over the years.
The wagon that the Cichosz family homesteaded to Montana in was built at the Winona Wagon Works. Fr. Bresna saw it on my Uncle Ted's farm during a visit to Hogeland, MT in the 1980's. It now hangs from the ceiling inside the Polish Cultural Institute. Though it is marked as the "Olszewski" wagon - due to it being in the family - it was the wagon that the Cichosz family (and Olszewski and Keidrowski) & belongings traveled to Montana in 1915.
I don't have a scanner, but I will type up the information that I found in Grandma Florence's notes about the Cichosz family and post those here very soon.
What I do have is that Albert Wojtech Cichosz was b. 4-24-1872 (Location?)d. 8-??-1967 (Montana). His parents are: Anton (Anthony) Cichosz and Paulinia (Cebula - spelling?). He married Bertha Eichendorf. Both came to Winona through Penn.
Let me know if this helps fill in any blanks, confirms any questions, or creates new ones.
Chris Olszewski
