I have reviewed seems like a hundred CHURCHWELL families
and finally found my Alcey. She was AILSEY MARY CHURCHWELL, born 26 Sep 1870, dau of JOSEPH R CHURCHWELL, b: 1847, Wayne Co, TN. JOSEPH was the son of PAYTON CHURCHWELL, b: 1804 KY. PAYTON named his first son WILLIAM and his first daughter, ELIZABETH, which makes me think the WILLIAM who married BETSY CRAWFORD, 17 Mar 1803, Pulaski Co, KY were his parents. Believe he may be one of RICHARD CHURCHWELL SRs descendants. Can anyone help?

There are at least three connections between the BLACKBURNS and the CHURCHWELLS.
1. John Porter BLACKBURN (born 1786, son of Ambrose and Frances Halbert Blackburn and brother to Josiah Blackburn) married Nancy Elizabeth CHURCHWELL in January 1819. They lived in Maury Co., TN
2. William H. "Bill" BLACKBURN (son of Josiah and Rachael Blackburn) married Sue CHURCHWELL, a widow, date unknown. Josiah lived in Maury Co., TN in the early 1800s. He moved to War Eagle, Benton Co., AR.
3. Emilene GRADY BLACKBURN (widow of Ambrose Blackburn, the son of Sylvanus and Katherine Blackburn and grandson of Josiah and Rachael Blackburn) married James A. CHURCHWELL around 1865. James was born in TN but went to AR in the 1840s. He and Emilene lived in War Eagle, Benton Co., AR in the 1870s and 80s. James A. Churchwell is buried in the Blackburn Cemetery.
Does anyone know of other BLACKBURN/CHURCHWELL connections?
Does anyone know if James A. CHURCHWELL was the son of Sue Churchwell Blackburn?
Does anyone know who Sue Churchwell's first husband was?
ANY information is appreciated.
