This is the January status update for the Churchill genesis Y-DNA
Project
We now have 9 individuals who are testing.
American Plymouth Family:
We have results back for Harry Churchill and Bill Churchill. Harry is a
descendant of William2 and Bill is a descendant of Eliezer2 of the
American Plymouth family. The results were in-conclusive with regard to
the Plymouth Churchill Hyplotype. However, Charles Churchill and Don
Churchill, both descendants of Eliezer2, are testing. This should
resolve the Hyplotype for 17th Century John Churchill of Plymouth the
American Plymouth Churchill progenitor. Hopefully those results will
post next month.
American Connecticut Family:
Malcolm Churchill and Denny Churchill have tested for the American
Connecticut family. Their results have been received from the
laboratory but, as of today, results have not posted on the DNA Heritage
Web Site.
American Virginia Family & the Ancient English Oxfordshire Family:
Brad Churchill and Charles Churchill have tested for the American
Virginia family. The results have not yet posted.
There is good news for American Virginia Churchills with regard to
descendency from William Churchill of North Aston, Oxfordshire who
settled in Virginia in the 17th Century. Thomas Churchill, a Churchill
of the ancient English Oxfordshire line has signed up to test. Thomas
(Toby) who lives in Scotland is the son of Thomas A. J. N. Churchill the
author of the Churchill Chronicles, a history of the English Oxfordshire
family. He is in the process of locating a cousin who will test. The
Oxfordshire Churchill Hyplotype will allow American Virginia Churchills,
uncertain of their ancestry, to determine if they descend from William
of North Aston.
American Manhattan Family
To date we have not located American Manhattan Churchills. Both Malcolm
and I have corresponded with Manhattan Churchills in years past.
Unfortunately addresses for our contacts now lead to the dead letter
box. In my case the lesson learned is to obtain snail mail addresses in
addition to e-mail addresses.
If any one knows of American Manhattan family members please send us
their addresses or contact and advise them of our project.
Ancient English Devon Churchill Family
I have corresponded with several members of the ancient English Devon
Churchill family in years past. Unfortunately I have experienced the
same problem as with my past Manhattan Churchill contacts. Their e-mail
addresses are now inactive. I’ll continue to search for modern ancient
Devon family descendants. If anyone has contacts with a Churchill of
the ancient Devon family please let me know.
