Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I would like to congratulate and thank Anna LeBlanc on her hard work in
publishing a first Churchill newsletter this week. Hopefully it will
stir up contributions of news and articles from those who are either
interested in or doing Churchill research.

Good work Anna!

I am trying to obtain a copy of an article that was published in the Nova
Scotia Historical Quarterly (1978) and have had no luck so far. I did
contact a local historical society in NS and paid to have a copy sent to me
but never received it so I would rather not go that route again. Since so
many listers have an interest in the NS lines, I am hoping someone has
access to this Quarterly and can help. I have been chasing it down for a
year now! It is vol. #8:3 "Privateers and Petticoats" by Carol MacLeod.

Bill,
I have this information from Genealogies of Mayflower Families, Vol I
selected by Gary Boyd Roberts From the NEHG Register, 1985, p. 137.
It is called the Bartlett Bible, but was brought to Mass. by John
Churchill. It is a Geneva Bible of 1597, and nothing is said about any
Churchill entries. The entries are by Robert Bartlett, b, 1713. It was
handed in the family of Robert Bartlett, immig., who married Mary Warren,
dau. of Mayflower passenger Richard Warren.
I'm not sure when this statement was made, but it says "present owner is
Harry Owen Bartlett of Chicago, Ill. He received it in the Will of his
father William Warren Bartlett. Before the Book of Matthew, it says
'"Plymouth
Brought by John Churchel"
No indication who wrote these 2 lines.
Then it says Joseph Bartlett bought the book in 1681 for
"too pound good lawfull money of new England."

An excellent idea Bill - and I would be very interested in participating.
My own area of interest is the Churchills of Dorset - I have extensive information going back to the 1790's, particularly for the Dorchester area.
Could you also let me know about the common database project - sounds very interesting.
best regards
Peter Churchill

As the administrator of the list, I'm advising the Churchill subscribers
that there has been a substantial amount of spam mail being distributed
utilizing phony return addresses which are the request addresses for
subscribing and unsubscribing to the various rootsweb lists. As such, I get
a copy of each "Churchill" bounce from the list, which is all this junk
stuff. I have changed my email address on the Churchill list so that they
go to a blocked email address. Therefore, in the event you need to contact
me, please use spenser(a)rcn.com.
Thanks. Clarke.

Bill and other Churchill researchers,
I am also interested in subscribing to a Churchill newsletter. I descend from
two Churchill lines in America: William of Manhattan and Josiah of
Connecticut. The Churchill lines are well delineated but there are major gaps in ines
into which they married. At this stage, I am only an amateur, but I would be
happy to contribute whatever I can.
Best wishes,

I would be interested in subscribing to a Churchill newsletter. My line left
Vermont in the 1810s then moved to New York state, on to Zorra, London
District before landing in Lapeer / St. Clair counties in Michigan around 1837.

I am searching for the ancestors and siblings of Asa CHURCHILL b. Jun 1835 in New York. His parents were born in Vermont. He married Nancy F. UNKNOWN b. May 1857 in WV., and lived in Clay Township, Ottawa County, Ohio. Their children were Minnie Cordelia and Simeon A.
Also, the descendants of Simeon A. (Asa?) CHURCHILL b. Oct 1887 in Clay Township, Ottawa County, Ohio.
Any help would be deeply appreciated.
John C. Hall, Petaluma, California
I would be interested in participating in a newsletter.

able to contribute a few things if they are needed.
Trying to stay dry in Southwest Virginia/

I have little information to share, and am interested only in finding the ancestry of Erastus Churchill. But I would like to receive the newsletter.

To those (once) interested in a Churchill association.
I have had several exchanges with Anna LeBlanc who initially asked if
there were surname Churchill researchers interested in sharing
information. I mentioned that a year or two back there were discussions
of an association that went nowhere – except that several of us are now
working a common database project.
Anna is interested in sharing information about Churchill related
research, who is doing what and other happenings that might be of
interest to surname Churchill researchers. I mentioned that at one time
a periodic newsletter had been discussed but no one committed to
producing it. Anna says that she would be interested in producing such
a news letter (maybe monthly?) if others would contribute information on
their interests and their research.
Who is interested in participating?
Those interested in receiving such a newsletter, please reply to the
group – or to the List.
